    Why does Maryland have to be Go#$amn last on our schedule almost every year?
    Looks like a very weak OOC schedule this year.

    Definitely a weak OOC schedule. However, that isn’t a bad thing considering we lose RW and Nate. IMO, college football is as much smoke and mirrors as it is anything. Perception is important in terms of media coverage and recruiting, so gaudy win totals improve how your program is perceived no matter who you beat.

    At least the UNC game is still in November. Really really wish they would make that the last or at least the next to last game. I always hated playing them at C-F in September one year, then October in Chapel Hill.

    A couple of things I see:

    1) Oct 29-Nov 26 looks brutal, but at least it is last part of year.

    2) Weak OOC as noted above

    3) No bye weeks for ACC teams leading into our games…a good thing.

    4) 6 of the 8 teams have home game prior to our game with them. (Maryland is @ BC & WF is @ Syracuse)

    ^^Agreed. Last 5 games will be difficult. State can make thier case against these 5 plus Cincy, as long as they start by winning the weak part of the early schedule.

    I was trying to figure out if I was getting Season tickets again this year, and with 3 of our seven home games against weak(at least interest wise, I have no clue how good Central Michigan or South Alabama might be)I will probably pass.

    We should have a good shot at being 5-1 at the bye week. And as many above have stated, the rest of the season is going to be a lot more challenging.

    For what it is worth…UNC has the opposite scenario.

    6 of the 8 ACC teams playing them are on the road prior to their game. They also get the BYE prior to playing @VT on Thursday night.

    I guess until UNC can consistently beat NC State the game between the Pack and the Tar Heels will move farther and farther backwards from the last game.

    Love the way this sets up. Great shot at 6-0 going into the bye week.

    And I may be in the minority, but I prefer soft non-conference schedules. If you are not in the national championship picture, there’s far more benefit to scheduling easy wins and home games.

    Besides, has anyone EVER not had a good time tailgaiting at C-F and watching a win, regardless of the opponent?

    Considering we’ve only won once in Winston since 1995, I think it’d be great to see us go to 2-0 first.

    ^^ Thursday night games always get BYE weeks, unless a rare exception like the Cincy game last year, where we had the game scheduled late and jammed in between UCF and GT. Remember TOB complained a lot about that, but if you just have one Thursday night game, you typically always have the bye week leading up to it.

    I’m about 95% positive we should be 6-0 going into the Bye week. Cincy may be a tough game being Thursday night, but luckily we do have a cupcake before it, AT home vs the UCF issue last season. 2 road games, against weak teams should bode well for our unknowns at WR & Glennon’s production. Just my .02

    No Duke, VT, or Miami. I enjoy watching us play all those teams (OK, maybe not getting beat by VT).

    We don’t have a bye week this year and our Thursday night game is on the road. What’s the excuse going to be this year?

    If you want to be good, you have to win tough games.
    Conference games are always tough.

    I’m more excited about the returning experience on the O-Line and overall experience than I am worried about who we lose. Also, a stacked deck of TE’s bodes well for our return to typical Dana Bible I-formation football.

    If I counted correctly, the scholarship players include:
    45 players RS So or older
    (32 have played 2 yrs or more – Jr or older)

    I think we have a good chance at going 6-0 (as many have stated) and a decent chance at being 7-0 going to Tallahassee. Should make for at least some decent early season press (a la last year’s Maryland team) if we make it through the easy part of our schedule with a strong record.

    I like the bye week mid-schedule. I would say about ~Oct 18th we probably will need a break to prepare for end schedule.

    How many seasons have they ruined?(or have we allowed Maryland to ruin) I don’t even care about UNC this season, just friggin beat Maryland!

    The football Gods have smiled upon NC State for once. This is as easy a schedule as we could hope for. The particularly beautiful thing about it is the timing. We play the easy teams early and the tough teams late (and no ECU).

    This gives Glennon a chance to develop and our offensive line time to gel – our season largely hinges on those two groups. Knock on wood but we could be 6-0 going into the FL State game – mark your calendar.

    why two 1-AA teams again. only 1 counts for bowl eligibility. I am all for the cupcakes but we need to only schedule one FCS team. the rest should be FBS.

    It is February, we just beat WF in BB yesterday, and we are talking about the upcoming FB season. Mind you, we have a FB program that has not won an ACC Title since 1979. Point being, our FB program is not something to write home about. This clearly indicates where we are with our BB program. Instead of talking about “March Madness” and the ACC Tournament, we are discussing the FB schedule of a program that , again, has not won a title since 1979. This is really sad – so sad.

    ^^I care about beating xarolina a whole lot but honestly with 4 wins in a row over them, the law of averages is starting to swing thier way. Beating Maryland end of reg. season would get a monkey off our back though.

    ^^Yes NCSU84 it is sad. Things sure do change and State athletics is no different. And judging by the condition we’re in now I hope they keep on changing.
