Charlotte’s WFNZ 610 AM launched its new radio programming schedule today. You can click here for detail on the schedule.
This is noteworthy to everyone in the region as some of FNZ’s shows are syndicated to local stations in North and South Carolina. Of note, is “Primetime” in the key 3pm time slot that was anchored by Mark Packer for 13 years. (Discussion of Packer’s departure available here.) SFN favorite, Taylor Zarzour, has been picked to replace Packer in a validation of his abilities and a re-branding of the show as “The Drive”
3pm-7pm- The Drive with Taylor Zarzour and Marc James- We are very excited about “The Driveâ€. Taylor has been extremely successful in Raleigh and has been used as a co-host and a fill in host on WFNZ for years. He is very knowledgeable and has covered sports in the south for over a decade. Scouts always like to compare players to other players. If I had to compare Taylor to another host, it would without a doubt be Gary Williams. Marc James brings a combination of knowledge and energy unlike anything ever heard before on WFNZ. Marc too has covered sports in the south for over a decade. Marc has three degrees. One from Miami, one from Georgia and one from Arkansas. Why he is wasting those degrees by being a sports radio host I can’t explain! By putting Taylor and Marc together we believe we will have a show unlike any show we have ever had at WFNZ. The show will also be syndicated throughout North Carolina and we plan on having the guys doing their show out of studio at least once a week so our listeners can get to know them and maybe even enjoy a cold beverage or two! The Q.C.B, Hitman, Jayweezie and the Whiner line all remain and the guest list on this show will be taken to another level. The Drive home just got a whole lot easier with “The Drive†with Taylor Zarzour and Marc James.
A lot of Wolfpackers will have opinions of the new show that will air after Zarzour…but, we’re staying out of this for now.
7pm-10pm- The David Glenn Show- David brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and local sports talk to WFNZ nights. David is as close to an expert of the ACC as you will find and is also well versed in all sports. WFNZ hasn’t had a local show on at nights in over 8 years. We are very excited about David’s addition to the lineup. On nights when we have play by play the David Glenn Show will air immediately following.
With Charlotte being such a strong UNC-Chapel Hill market, it will be interesting to see if Glenn’s perspective of things will be more accepted by a wider audience in Mecklenburg County. You know…things like how racist it is/was for all of you fans to presume that Marvin Austin and his Tar Heel buddies couldn’t afford to travel all over the country on their own dimes. ‘Mainstream’ ideas like that. Of course, you need to know going in that details on any topics covered are ‘irrelevant’.
