Given the lack of faith we all have in Sid (look into your heart – you know it’s true) we’d like to say it’s the Wolfpack but the reality is that expectations were very high for the Tarheels. Therefore, per the national media, they will be the ACC’s biggest disappoint(ment).

Deucepeters, that is precisely why I voted for the Heels. They are the ones that started the season ranked 8th in the nation, not us.

Of course, the Pack has already been disappointing to our own fans. But as we gain experience, I think we can still be decent (hopefully good enough to go dancing in March).

If it’s personal disappointment, it will have to be the Pack – unless things turn in a hurry and in a big way. I’m afraid, though, that we’ve already blown our opportunity with the OOC losses. Unless we have a blockbuster ACC record, we popped our bubble.

so far i think it is Va Tech. didn’t VaTech return all five starters from last year? weren’t they predicted to finish 2nd in the conference? after being left out of the NCAA tournament for a soft out of conference schedule, Va Tech upgraded their out of conference schedule this year. however, they have not faired well and lost their conference home opener to Virginia. not a good start.

while i have serious doubts Lowe will make it beyond this year as coach at State, one has to take into consideration the loss of Tracy Smith after one game. State was a young team with Tracy in the lineup; more so,with him out of it. while State’s chances of getting a significant OOC win have diminished, the losses were without Smith in the lineup. the win against George Mason may a good one when all is said and done.

Personally I am not yet dissappointed. We have only played 7 games and lost to 2 top 25 teams and a borderline top 25 team in wisconsin. All 3 of those games were without Tracy. Depending how we play in the ACC with Tracy will determine our fate. If he was gonna be lost I much rather it be now than Jan, and Feb. No one could have really thought we were going to go undefeated against the teams we lost to. Especially without Tracy. The Wisconsin performance as ugly as it was did 2 things. Got those players off their high horse, and lit a fire under the nation, which in turn should light a fire under the staff. They will get better, much better.

V tech and FSU never really do anything other than secure the middle. They may make an occasional splash but never much more.

Biggest Dissapointment will Be the HOLES. When I first saw them I said, this is the same team they had last year. Up till over half the ACC games were over there were still people holding out hope that they would gel and become a force. Needless to say that never happened.As I thought all summer they still had Drew at the point, so unless he transformed into Ty Lawless they would not be much better. H. Buns and R. Bullot and K. Marsupial weren’t gonna make that big a difference.

Since they are the media darlings they will end up being the biggest dissappointment.

Its got to be VT…they had the least questions coming into the season (not like the youth of NCSU & UNC and the loss of some key players for FSU) and have lost some winnable games…their final straw is the loss to UVA who has some bad losses themselves and is their rival…

Anyway, North Carolina’s my vote. Some may think that last year was a fluke but I do believe they will fall flat on their faces again. I hope.

Sure! NC State is a big disappointment. They lost 3 games to teams with a combined record of 22-2. Two teams that are currently ranked in the top 10. All three games on the road. And we were without our all-ACC top scorer in all three.

Would I have like to win those? Sure, but if State gets tough now, they might be able to win enough conference games to dance.

UNC with all-world Harrison Barnes have to be the biggest disappointment given the talent on that team, their great coach and a top 10 preseason ranking.

It is nice to see the optimism of some state fans, but how do you lose by 39 points to a team who already has 2 losses, and not highly ranked, even though we didn’t have Tracy Smith. Then have a 6 point lead against Syracuse, and go the last 7-8 minutes of the game without a basket. Coaching! Coaching! Coaching!!!!!! Can you expect any better with Sid. I vote a definite NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless UNC finds a point guard to feed Henson, Barnes and Bulluck, it will definately be them. They’re good, but they need someone to help them get their shots. And Drew doesn’t seem any better than last year so far.

If State lives up to preseason projections, no one will be surprised. If they don’t, no one will be surprised. If they exceed projects? I’m not even going there.

Very interesting article in SI (linked below) a couple of weeks ago on the potential impact of incoming freshmen. The message is, our three guys really don’t fit the model of the extremely unique players that become program saviors as freshmen. Will they be good or even great? No reason to think they won’t. Will they go first round in the NBA some day? I’d say two of them definately show that potential. And Ryan could get there, he needs some size. He’s certainly very talented. But will they be able to take our program from average to great in one season? No way! We need to adjust our expectations.

VT based on preseason expectations. I was never sold on them. It’s the same team that was on the bubble last year. Why did anyone think they’d challenge Duke?

After UNC, I think our second-least-favorite team is NC State. Who else causes more agony and disappointment than the Wolfpack?

If you’re talking about the biggest disappointment to us it’s State because our own expectations (and hopes) may have been a bit too high however I still think that this team still has what it takes after the Wisconsin debacle and recovering from a double digit deficit to at one point leading against the no. 7 team in the country.

If you’re talking about the media it’s the Tar Heels. As much as the media talks them up they are always a disappointment unless they win it all.

I think overall though it’s VT. They are consistently right there on the verge of being a decent team (ie. making the dance) but keep coming up short. This year looks like more of the same.

remember VaT lost their first two football games.
basketball season provides MANY more opportunities.
BIGgest disappointment? it looks like Duke.
if Duke doesn’t repeat, well, y’know.
