Seriously, Delaware State? Pack Narrowly Avoids Humiliating Upset

Here’s J.P. Giglio’s writeup. I didn’t watch or listen, just saw the score on the ticker of Boise State vs. Utah, so I don’t have any real analysis.

But…wow. Just wow. This is Year Five of NC State’s version of the Clyde Drexler experiment. Thank God we finally have a real AD. Much like jolly Saint Nick, I’m sure she’s makin’ a list, and checkin’ it twice.

On that note, I’m off to Puerto Rico for Christmas. Perhaps I will see you in the comments of the bowl game thread (fellow SFN authors, please post the game thread in my absence). And Merry Christmas, everyone!

In 1983 we squeaked by Les Robinson’s Citadel team. I am not so much concerned about the fact we beat a lesser team we should have blown out by two points, I am concerned about the way this teams approaches every game, outside of syracuse. This team against Youngstown and Delaware appeared at times to be disinterested and had no desire to play defense. We got a double digit lead at least twice and then played with no urgency to put them away. I believe Smith is going to help in a lot of ways but I think if you are sitting back believing he is going to change the whole demeanor of this team on the floor, I think you are mistaken. I just do not see how this team gets 10 to 11 wins in the ACC, I hope they do, but I will be pleasantly surprised.

No more koolaid please. We suck as usual. Copy and paste after the next game….

We need a proven coach no matter if they are 95 or 25 years old. Any coach who can organize and motivate will do.

I just finished watching the 6:00 news on WRAL. Scott Wood made a comment towards the end of the on-air piece about “selfishness”. Here is a link to the on-air piece, but it is different from the one that they played.

    http://www.wralsportsfan.com/college_basketball/story/8818114/

If you listen to Scott Wood’s comments, I was not able to find the “selfishness” comment, BUT he did make a statement that we need to “play together like a team”.

I think that Tracy’s absense has impacted the team and its rhythm. However, the effort that I saw last night was not that of the team that I watched in Charleston. For 2 1/2 games there, they were scrappy. Tracy was LOST early in that tournament.

There is SOMETHING going on within the locker room and it bodes bad. I have been a 150% Sid supporter since he was hired. We go to his coach’s radio show often. I love the man and respect him, but this is becoming an issue, as it was a few years ago when Gavin Grant (anybody seen him lately, I need to get an autograph) was sharing a bed with another player’s girlfriend, we had the SAME issues.

Sid needs to take over the reins and address this. Tracy was limping last night walking back and forth from the huddle during half time. Sid’s tone is also changing…..earlier in the week, he was commenting that Tracy’s pain was in his head…..but not now. Tracy is visibly in pain….I don’t know WHEN he will be back.

Going to FL after Christmas…..maybe the new year’s 2011 baby will bring some “chemistry” changes…..which we need.

To the person that commented on why Scott Wood was playing, he was really sharp on defense. He is a shooter and he will get into a slump. Whitt was a shooter, but did not have the D skills that Scott has. He realized last night that the shot could be off and positioned himself to get the rebound. He talked about how he had a flashback of a championship game in high school and had a “vibe” about the desperation shot and the where the rebound would come out….He got the Rebound and hit the most important shot of the game.

“There is SOMETHING going on within the locker room and it bodes bad.”

^I agree with this. Pure speculation on my part, but I would put money on it.

Some of the team look divided during the YSU game. I did not get to see or hear last night’s game, but sh*t. Just sh*t.

Playing terrible is one thing, but another team implosion? Really? Like I said – pure speculation but damn it sure seems that way.

I think we are back in the death spiral and close to end it seems.

Maybe Yow just needs Roy to blow Sid out at the RBC to seal the deal for her.

Imo he has already sealed the deal.

Please end the Sid Lowe Experiment!

Again for those who didn’t hear it the first time, Sid is waiting for something to happen instead of making things happen.

    It’s time for a change.

“I think Paul Hewitt is about to be available…”

I thought that he was already coaching our team?

Fear not everyone, it is over. I’m sure Yow came here with the idea of probably needing a new coach (after all she was in the ACC – she’s aware of this mess), but she’s giving him a year with his new recruits just to confirm her suspicions. There is absolutely no rationale that could possibly keep him beyond the end of the season.

I’m going to relax and enjoy seeing these guys play, hoping that next year we’ll have someone who knows what to do with them. This is our lame duck year.

I’m hoping the coaching change won’t be the deciding factor for CJL to go pro, he’s not ready – and he could be really good with another year or two.

Win or lose the problems are the same. Poor rebounding on both ends of the floor, no chemistry, poor defense. Lack of movement on offense. Will be interesting if they can turn this around. Maybe Tracy is taking his time coming back because his was pushed to play when the knee was already hurt. We have plenty of problems that do not have anything to do with Tracy, hopefully they will correct them and have a good year.

If I was Tracy, I wouldn’t come back until later in the season. When the season is officially lost he can’t be expected to save it. He is in a lose, lose situation right now.

I am not convinced that we have alot of talent. I keep hearing that we do however we have seen no evidence of it. If the fresh are truly talented why are they hiding it during games? I think Sl is great at recruiting guys that are skilled at showing only flashes of talent thus creating the illusion of “potential”. Our talent consistently has “off nights”, slumps and turnover festivals. I am not sure any of these guys that have been on the floor over the last month meet the true definition of talent.

I haven’t seen anything from CJL that screams NBA potential. This team from the staff to the water boys are in dire need of an attitude rebuild.

As much as I hate to admit this – many of you who have ever read any of my posts know that I’m so doggone optimistic about NC State sports that I almost break out in hives when any of our sports or any else about NC State are criticized – bu I am quickly coming to the conclusion that this BB staff and I know one of the staff members personally, is just not good for this program.
Looks like we’re doomed to this vicious cycle of hire-coach, fire-coach. While the other two triangle schools just keep it moving.
“What is it that brings us to this place as to no other?” Fire the coach
“What is it that brings us to this place as to no other?” Fire the AD
We are in many ways the most passionate fan base there is in all of college sports. I guess that’s what brings us to this place continually. We are always searching for what brought us championships.
The question we really need to answer is this: Did we somehow sell our championship birthright somehow? When did we sell it? Who did we sell it to? Where did we sell it? IS IT POSSIBLE TO BUY IT BACK?
