Pretty funny, but still not anything compared to Nate Irving’s suplex. He ruined all physical humor for me (because nothing will beat that).

Do we know what penalty the kid got other than being thrown out of the game? Suspension? Off the team for the season?

I bet Butch Davis would love to have him somewhere in the football program. He’d fit right in.

In the players defense, it did appear that the ref may have been “disrespecting” him.

    From thesmokinggun.com

DECEMBER 14–A high school basketball player who shoved and body slammed a referee during a game last night is facing a felony battery charge, according to a police report.

As seen in the above video, Mason Holland, 18, assaulted Jim Hamm after the 51-year-old referee hit him with a technical foul. Holland, pictured below, is captain of the DeSoto High School varsity squad, which faced off yesterday against Port Charlotte High School.

The 6’ 7” Holland was escorted from the basketball court by a DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office detective who was assigned to the game. Hamm told the deputy that he “did not want to see Mason get arrested and go to jail but did want to file a report/charges.”

In an interview last night with police, a “remorseful” Holland appeared to blame the referees for allowing opposing players to rough him up without whistling them for fouls. Holland “stated that the referees were seeing this happen but was not calling any fouls on the opposing team.”

Holland said that he lost his temper “and took it out on the referee when he should not have.”

Based on their investigation, sheriff’s deputies determined that probable cause existed to charge Holland with felony battery. That recommendation “will be sent to the States Attorney’s Office for review.”

“In an interview last night with police, a “remorseful” Holland appeared to blame the referees for allowing opposing players to rough him up without whistling them for fouls”

This tells you he is not remorseful.

IMO he should not play again. If he would have been truly remorseful then maybe he should play again but he blames someone else for his actions.

Trout, good to hear. There is no place in any level of sports for this. People need to learn to control themselves. Or pay the price. Is the price too high? I don’t think so. He can work his way back into sports and society. But he’ll just have to do it the old fashioned way – the hard way.

Dont see him on Scout or Rivals, looks like his life of becoming a no account thug started about 6 weeks earlier….

Think about how bad this would have hurt his recruiting status…

Good – he shouldn’t play again. That’s trash.

The bad thing is that if the ref had done anything at all to defend himself some people would’ve been screaming to have the ref’s neck. This is too far.

In America, everything’s always the other guy’s fault – never your own. Just ask Chief and the Holes.

Speaking of … “I bet Butch Davis would love to have him somewhere in the football program. He’d fit right in.”

    ^Funny!
