Gametimes stuff & more football [Updated 11/2]

Hate to push this great piece of work down the blog…

NC State @ Clemson, November 6th, 12:00 Noon on ACC-TV

Clemson’s loss to Boston College pushed this potential ‘must see’ to somewhat of an also-ran.  The Wolfpack’s visit to Death Valley is now scheduled for noon on your local Raycom affiliate.  I mean “ACC Network provider”.  We announced this earlier in this thread and discussion on our message boards.

Clemson opened as a 4.0 favorite in Las Vegas and that has already been bet down to a –3.0 (Link)

Wake Forest @ NC State, November 13th (Homecoming) 2:00pm on ESPN3

Even worse, Wake Forest is so bad that our match-up with the Demon Deacons won’t make a television appearance.  Instead, Homecoming will be played in front of a packed Carter-Finley, bowl scouts, and computer screens on ESPN3.  The good news is that the 2pm kickoff is about as perfect of a kick as possible for a mid-November game.

Tiger Toughness

On September 18th, SFN ran a poll asking who would win the Atlantic Division. At that time, NC State fans clearly thought that the Clemson Tigers represented a more formidable challenge than Florida State. Always interesting to look back at the shifts in opinions as the facts of the season change

. Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Andre Ellington Out

Clemson’s top running back, Andre Ellington will be out of commission for the Tigers games with both the Wolfpack and Florida State. (Link)

Florida State > NC State?

ESPN’s Heather Dinich weighs in on Tuesday and projects the ACC’s Championship game. (Link)

Right – with ESPN3 now available, they may or may not still put on TV. Damn it, the TV feed is more reliable.

Boyd is “supposed” to be a pocket passer.

Clemson has not employed any read-option so far this season and it did not use any last year.

    AGAIN:

    1) stop the wheel route to the back out of the back field.

    2) limit the end Allen.

    3) do not give up the long ball.

    4) do not run sweeps against Clemson.

    5) do not throw the long ball against Clemson until they have shown total commitment to stopping everything under 15 yds. Isolate running backs on their linebackers.

    and finally

    6) limit turnovers

Okay devil’s advocate. Would that great BC defense be the one we torched 44-17. You must have missed that game. I like our chances, and that is why I am going back to Clemson, after many many years. If we play smart and don’t turn the ball over, we will win. Go Wolfpack!

Textile Bowl is a toss up IMHO.
Both Clemson and NCSU are good teams, and DeathValley is a scary place to play.
Hopefully the Top 25 jinx will not play this time

    Textile Bowl?

Is this game being played between Vietnam and China?

BTW: Death Valley aint all that. Stop building the mystic. South Carolina has the great advantage of having only two division I teams in the state. The big population centers for South Carolina are about 30 minutes north of the school so that means Clemson has lots and lots of “fans”.

That is not a luxury we have at State College.

    Good one re Vietnam/China!

I expected Clemson to be a lot better than they are, especially after how they played at Auburn. I’m now expecting a win, since I don’t expect much life from the crowd (and in light of Ellington’s injury plus new QB).

Our season is going to come down to the UNC game in Chapel Hill. I don’t know whether to be excited or to throw up. Maybe both?

We all know that UNC, who cheats, and FSU, who lost, nevertheless will be ABC’s regional telecast this Saturday at 3:30pm. The Pack, who beat FSU, instead gets the highly undesirable noon Raycom telecast for its game at Clempson Saturday. Now, I hear that ABC is televising the Clempson-FSU game at 8pm on November 13, the same day our game against WF isn’t on tv at all.

The more that FSU and Clempson lose, and the more doo-doo that’s uncovered on UNC, the more tv games they get. Conversely, the more we WIN, the less games we get on tv. Seems the tv networks are treating us the same way the BCS is treating Boise State, TCU and Utah. Ain’t no respect.

Hopefully, State will play the rest of the season with this in mind. A chip on their shoulder might carry them all the way to Miami in January.

I trust the team don’t make the mistake many of you have and looking ahead to UNX. Clemson is our next opponent, and that is who we need to be concerned with. We can worry about the other teams, when that is our next scheduled game. Take care of the Tigers in Death Valley.
