Gametimes stuff & more football [Updated 11/2]

Hate to push this great piece of work down the blog…

NC State @ Clemson, November 6th, 12:00 Noon on ACC-TV

Clemson’s loss to Boston College pushed this potential ‘must see’ to somewhat of an also-ran.  The Wolfpack’s visit to Death Valley is now scheduled for noon on your local Raycom affiliate.  I mean “ACC Network provider”.  We announced this earlier in this thread and discussion on our message boards.

Clemson opened as a 4.0 favorite in Las Vegas and that has already been bet down to a –3.0 (Link)

Wake Forest @ NC State, November 13th (Homecoming) 2:00pm on ESPN3

Even worse, Wake Forest is so bad that our match-up with the Demon Deacons won’t make a television appearance.  Instead, Homecoming will be played in front of a packed Carter-Finley, bowl scouts, and computer screens on ESPN3.  The good news is that the 2pm kickoff is about as perfect of a kick as possible for a mid-November game.

Tiger Toughness

On September 18th, SFN ran a poll asking who would win the Atlantic Division. At that time, NC State fans clearly thought that the Clemson Tigers represented a more formidable challenge than Florida State. Always interesting to look back at the shifts in opinions as the facts of the season change

. Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Andre Ellington Out

Clemson’s top running back, Andre Ellington will be out of commission for the Tigers games with both the Wolfpack and Florida State. (Link)

.

Florida State > NC State?

ESPN’s Heather Dinich weighs in on Tuesday and projects the ACC’s Championship game. (Link)

I don’t care if we’re not on TV, just record 2 wins!!! I’ll be happy and can deal with it!!

There is a deep dark depression down around Tiger Town. The natives are bemoaning the fact that Dial Soap is in limited quantity and their beloved Tigers are not sitting pretty at 7-1. They miss Spiller and Ford like there is no tomorrow and Mickey Plyler’s mouth is nearly as wide as the Tallulah Gorge.

State has some favorable match ups. State will have a difficult time with their front line on defense but their linebackers do not read, react or tackle well. Their defensive backs can cover the deep ball but there is not a great deal of communication between the d backs and the linebackers. BC killed them with draws and delays where they funneled the pass rush to the outside. Good chances for Wilson to run.

No slow developing plays, they will be losers against Clemson. Sweeps will not work well against Clemson. Do not throw the 25 yd or longer deep ball on Clemson.

I’d blitz early and often. Mix in plenty of corner blitzes to Parker’s left shoulder.

I also suggest tailgating at the Baptist Church in town. It was the scene of my last tailgating in Tigertown which resulted in State winning 38-6 and the Presbyterians out drinking the Baptists!!

The night life in Clemson isn’t much. I suggest the greater Townville area or Westminster (home of the SC Apple Festival) where the moped ownership per 1000 people is the highest in the nation.

ANYTHING is better than noon on Raycom!

  4. Gowolves 11/01/2010 at 7:41 PM #

I agree with all the above I still think though we deserved better game times!

I think that the Wake Forest game is also senior day, and more than likely, Wilson’s last game at C-F.

Wow Clemson loses to BC, but we don’t have a chance? Give me a break, do you remember what we did to BC. As for the game, I found no tickets available at the Wolfpack Club office/State ticket office. Called 1800CLEMSON, and asked for tickets in the State section, if available, and they were for $24. That’s right guys. Give em a call and head down to Death Valley and support our team. I will!

I’m going to be in Disney so I would leave the house open for you goons but you’d drink all my beer and leave season’s greetings in my toilets.

Will that WF game be on twc 520? That is the channel that ecu/Carolina was on, when not on traditional tv.

  9. GAWolf 11/01/2010 at 9:21 PM #

1998: No. That was CBS-College or something like that. This appears to be ESPN3 which is internet feed only.

    Ridiculous.

Guys, listen, UVa and Duke are coming off BIG wins. Duke gives up 2.5 to UVa.
Just be glad Raycom didn’t pick that up instead of us!

  11. coach13 11/01/2010 at 11:34 PM #

Any good ticket deals for the WF game coming up? Got some youth football players I want to get to a game this year.

  12. packpigskinfan23 11/02/2010 at 1:30 AM #

98 and GAWolf- I think your talking about the TWC Special Events channel. It aired the ECU/UNC ESPN3 coverage. It could likely air the Wake/State game if enough people ask TWC for it.

If your team wins a game that’s not on TV, does it still count as a win? Yep. Go Pack!

2pm is a good time? psshhh…that time sucks. Going to miss all the 12pm and 3:30 games.

  15. mafpack 11/02/2010 at 3:03 AM #

Ya know what will really stick in your craw? Since I moved the family out here to the West Coast (ahhh!) I’ve been able to watch almost every single game (except 1!) with ESPN3 that we ComCast users out here get for free – in HD!

I know it sucks for the local folks, but us out-of-towners are loving it! 🙂

  16. lsutton5144 11/02/2010 at 7:06 AM #

Coach13 – The Wake game was announced as a sellout shortly after the conclucion of the FSU game. So I don’t expect there will be any deals on tickets.

It sounds like Tajh Boyd will be getting some playing time this week. Starting to phase Kyle Parker out and get ready for next year. Anyone know anything about him?

  18. Khan 11/02/2010 at 10:59 AM #

Clemson coming off a loss + NCSU coming off a huge win + This being a huge game for us + Being at Clemson + We just broke the top 25 = NCSU loss. I hope I’m wrong, but when we have a big win and crack the top 25, we usually flub the next game. Maybe this team is different. We’ll see.

  19. Packfan28 11/02/2010 at 11:21 AM #

“but when we have a big win and crack the top 25, we usually flub the next game”

Not a large population to base that on.

  20. baxter 11/02/2010 at 1:54 PM #

^yeah, when you consider that most of the time we barely cracked the top 25 because we just weren’t that good of a team. I feel like right now we are probably a better team as a whole than we were in years past. We don’t compare to that great defense we used to have, but our offense rivals the River’s years, and were doing quite well on 3rd down defensively. I like our chances to win, though on the road at DV is never anything to dismiss.

Win here would be big in the mind of a certain few big time recruits considering Clemson.

ECU/UNC was definitely an ESPN3 game, because it was in Chapel Hill (CBS College only has rights to C-USA games played at HOME). A Hole friend of mine said that TWC was using 520 for ESPN3 games “of local interest” and did the same thing for UNC/UVA. Maybe a Duke game, too.

  22. Statefan1998 11/02/2010 at 3:09 PM #

I called TWC and the lady did not have a clue of what I was talking about. I contacted the sports staff at the N&O about the TWC 520 and they said they would find out and let me know. If so, I will pass on the info.

“Wow Clemson loses to BC, but we don’t have a chance? Give me a break, do you remember what we did to BC?”

Yes, but playing devil’s advocate, BC has a pretty great defense. That’s why they beat Clemson. We don’t necessarily have as good a defense as BC has. So we (probably) won’t shut them down the way BC did. Plus the BC-Clemson game was a road game for the Tigers. This is a home game.

Having said that, I still like our chances. But if Clemson is going with a new QB, that makes me a little nervous. Hope he doesn’t decide to have a career day against us.

  24. ruffles31 11/02/2010 at 4:23 PM #

I thought they put the ECU/UNC game on because ESPN3.com wasn’t available in the state yet.

  25. Prowling Woofie 11/02/2010 at 4:27 PM #

If Tajh Boyd is fast and slippery, we’re toast…
