State 44, BC 17

Big win and an impressive response after the letdown last week. State is now 5-1 (2-1) and still controls its own destiny in the division.

Unlike last week, State took advantage of an early 10-0 lead and never let up, executing a solid gameplan that exploited BC’s focus on the run and they played a complete game on both sides of the ball and also on special teams. The Wolfpack racked up 422 yards in total offense, mainly through the air (347 yards). Russell Wilson completed 38-of-51 passes for 328 yards and three TDs (nevermind the two forced passes for interceptions), one each to Owen Spencer, Jarvis Williams, and Darrell Davis. Dontae Johnson blocked a punt and D.J. Green recovered for a touchdown on BC’s opening drive, and C.J. Wilson returned an interception 28 yards for a TD.

This was a well-coached and well-executed game.

One at a time. Lets go to Greenville and humiliate the Pirates on their own field and then worry about FSU. We will have a week and a half to prepare which is good for us.

I hope that is the motivation factor coming up. Goal #1 – Let’s get bowl eligible. Hey, let’s be honest, that is a goal I (we) weren’t all sold would happen. LEt’s secure that goal this weekend in Greenville!

I can’t believe some of the things I’ve read here (negativity). It’s been EIGHT years since we had something to cheer about, let’s cheer! 44 points and a W AND they made it look pretty easy. Damn…what do you people want? A national championship? VT showed us we don’t quite have the talent for that level YET. We could still get there with what we have with a few breaks and continued great coaching and luck on injuries. The FSU game is going to be big, but you know what? Tenuta and company stopped BC, and was outmatched on the O line by VT and still almost pulled that one off. I think ECU has a very hard time scoring this week and the game plan for FSU will surprise some if not all. Give the guys a chance to play the game. For gosh sakes we are 5-1 and could ahve easily been 6-0 if not for 3 plays (kickoff return and two busted running plays). I’ll take that any day of the week. The last time I checked the monday morning QBs have NEVER won a game. Enjoy where we are and cheer and root for a team we never expected to have this year.

I am enjoying this football season, but must disagree with the comment,’root for a team we never expected to have this year’, I am not shocked at all with the success, and always expect a great season, til the team proves otherwise.
