Since Wilson returned the top career QB efficiency rating back to Rivers, does this mean he will regain it back on Saturday? I hope so.

Watching RW’s numbers is “fun”, but I’m hooking a higher fidelity track on the D. 9th in the Conference doesn’t win divisions.

These D stats give me a little optimism though:
    Passing Yards: 173.0 (3, 26)
    Total Defense: 337.0 (5, 49)

But the points allowed is disappointing.

Points allowed includes Pick-6, Kickoff Return. Which shouldn’t be held against the defense.

Good stats, sir. Thanks for dissecting the numbers each week. Looking at fumbles, would it be of any value to see fumbles by player, as we work through the season? Hopefully, we see the defense’s numbers improve as we go along.

Points scored and points allowed are TEAM stats, not just offense or defense. Defensive and special teams scores can have a big impact on either stat. As always, make sure that the number you are using is really answering the question that you are asking.

Considering that a bad defense lost its starting DL, the fact that defensive improvement is obvious is quite amazing. Anyone that thought that State would contend for the division this year was simply fooling themselves.

VaWolf, I am confused by your statement. Are you saying that NC State can’t contend for the division title this year? So you are already giving us 3 losses? You are saying we can’t beat Florida State or Clemson?

Because that is the only way you can say “Anyone that thought that State would contend for the division this year was simply fooling themselves.” And that would require me thinking more of Florida State and Clemson that I do now. All year I have made the observation of Florida State – last year there was 3 points difference in the teams. If you look at the stats, NC State and Florida State were about equal in everything. The difference is that NC State was bad because of injuries and Florida State was because of coaching?

I am not currently putting anything beyond this teams grasp.

  8. VaWolf82 10/07/2010 at 1:00 PM #

Can’t? No, but I consider it highly unlikely. Do you think that State will be favored over either FSU or Clemson?

  9. Classof89 10/07/2010 at 4:43 PM #

Someone remind me again why Ruiz beat out Leffler at punter in the preseason?? Why did it take until the last two games for Ruiz to be benched?

  10. hball57 10/08/2010 at 4:21 PM #

    VaWolf-

I don’t know whether we will be favored, but that doesn’t mean anything to me. Sometimes you fell no hope against a team, but I don’t feel that was against anyone on our schedule. Clemson scares me more than Florida State.
