    I think what it goes to show you is that you don’t have to be in the top 5 nationally in defense, offense etc. You just need the combination that’s effective…and at least so far we’ve had that.

    Drop Western and State is scoring 30+ pts/game against FBS competition. You don’t have to look that far back and find seasons where State couldn’t score that against ANY FBS opponent.

    Bible vs Foster should be an interesting matchup this week.

    WV Wolf … how exactly is the “toughest schedule” data compiled? What are the determining factors? Is it solely based on opponent’s opponents’ records/conference affiliation? Sorry if I’m asking some obvious questions here.

    It looks like the toughest schedule is just based off win/loss records of your 1-A opponents.

    I appreciate the compliments, as long as people like these entries and find them useful I’ll try to keep puting them out.

    According to the numbers there are FIVE ACC punters WORSE than Jeff Ruiz. WOW!!!!

    I thought that as well but it turns out there are 5 ACC punters that don’t meet the minimum of 3.6 punts per game. Apparently there are 84 punters that meet that criteria and Jeff Ruiz ranks 84th.

    Couple thoughts:

    Ball distribution —> Russell Wilson’s most important stat IMO. He’s better at it than Rivers was. Guys who’s name you would probably never hear are catching passes and TD’s.

    Attendance –> 4th in the league, and our stadium is not even in the top 6 in total capacity. Says a lot about our fans. Still early, so you can’t really say it’s bandwagoners. The expectations for this season were not high, so it’s props to our fans for showing up.

    Great job. I really appreciate the work and also the ACC and National Rankings. Saying we get 295 yards per game passing alone doesn’t mean much, but knowing that’s #1 in the ACC gives great context.

    Also, one thing really stands out for me and aligns with what many of us said before the season started. We have a good offense that rates near the top of the ACC in all stats. We’d said that if we could just pair that with an average defense, we’d be okay. So far we have a defense that is a little better than average in the ACC and the results are going well so far.

    WV Wolf…Nice work…I was in raleigh for 30 plus years and have been going to Wolfpack Games for 29 of them.. Currently in WV right now to assist family members…But a State loyalist. (My wife is a WV fan but enjoys State with me…) I am moving back toward the end of the year. I still travel to all the games, Whew!!! I made an error on my lasy comments…I called TOB run happy. I was wrong and I gladly admit it. I am looking forward to VA Tech this weekend…what do you all think an ariel attack, a run attack or a good combination with a fine but whopping of the Hookies? May we all be putting our right hand in and shake it all about as we do the Hookie Pookie!!! ( poetic license invoked)

    Good to see just how much we spread the ball around. We pose quite the problem for a D coordinator. Our own D may not look so hot but look further- they are young. The D will be even better by the end of the season and they aren’t half bad right now.

    TOBtime, you took the words right out of my mouth. Our offence has got to be a nightmare for any deffensive coordinator. Not only do all our receivers touch the ball so does our backfield. Changing gears for a minute. I havn’t heard anyone mention how young our team is(minus receiving core). We have turned the corner and are on the autobond.

    PS: Anyone going to the game tommorow be extra loud. I keep hearing we are going to have a bunch of recruits at the game.

    Our defense and offensive line have really helped this team take the next step (so far, lots of time left this season). It always amazes me how the national media is late to hop on the bandwagon, but that shows what winning does. Our quarterback’s play is nothing new, Russell Wilson has been lights out since he assumed the quarterback position at State. Kudos to the wideouts for making the big catches this year. Our guys are making those clutch catches that are required to to win big.

    Win the turnover battle tomorrow and score touchdowns in the redzone and we should win. We CANNOT leave points on the table early in the game like we did against Ga. Tech.

    Truly amazing the difference a week can make for Nate. He was nearly invisible for the first three games… and then utterly dominant last Saturday. Two games back, a few of us were wondering out loud why he was playing OLB instead of inside… the switch to the inside against Ga Tech seemed to have suited him nicely.

    Great to see him back… wasn’t sure we’d ever see him flying around, hitting guys again… hopefully, the GT game shook off the cobwebs… we’ll need him hitting hard tomorrow.

    Is everybody ready to do the hookie pookie and turn ourselves around!!! The seasonal thing to do is slaughter the turkey then eat him!!! We should cut him up with our good ball control and our wonderful north south style of football. And stuffing…well I believe we should be able to stuff the run nicely with Nate heading the charge.

    And for dessert lets have some squash pie!!! (pumpkin is a squash for those who did not know) So GO PACK and squash them hookies!!! Now that would be the cream on top.

    On 99.9FM (ESPN) a few minutes ago, Erik Kuselias was interviewing Phil Steele and they were making their predictions for today. Kuselias says that VT will SMASH State today. Steele says VT will win, maybe not smash us.

    We just don’t get no respect.

    I would like to ask Mr. Kuselias if he expects VT to “smash” NC State the way they “smashed” James Madison, in Blacksburg no less.

    I actually think it could be the opposite today, and State wins by 14+ points. We’ve had 2- or 3-score leads in the fourth quarter of games in which we didn’t even play particularly well. And we’ve been getting better with each game. One more week of improvement and it may not even be close. Is VT even that good to begin with? I don’t think GT is, nor do I think VT is.

    I think this is a pivotal Wolfpack moment. Much has been made of the opportunities the schedule presents after this game. In the past 20 years, we’ve seldom – if ever – grasped the brass ring and took a step toward greatness.

    This is that chance this year. This team is clearly beatable. If we beat them, then the media should get some practice talking about the Pack for a few weeks – at least. We’ll be ranked for a few weeks – at least. And there are even greater opportunities later in the year.

    We’re doing it sooner than I expected. But the important thing is we are doing it. We are contenders again. That is great for all of us that love the Wolfpack.

    It isn’t the end of the world if today doesn’t go our way, but it will have been (hopefully) the first chance to turn the corner.

    GO PACK!!!

    Phil Steele can eat it. Big, big game for the pack today. I am nervous but that is par for the course. Let’s jump on the Turkeys early and make a statement. Our team will earn it’s respect on the field, not via the talking heads. Let’s roll pack. I want our boys to make a statement!
