Thank you WV Wolf. Good stuff here! This kinda proves my point that we are NOT doing it this year with “smoke and mirrors”. We are legit.

Interesting stat – Mustafa is on track to have a 1,000 all-purpose yard season as a freshman (505 yards so far, team leader). He averages 5.5 yards ever time he touches the ball.

I know we’re only half way through – but this kid is going to have a big impact on the rest of this, and future seasons!

thanks for the stats – mustafa and dean’s rushing stats are better than i thought, but one thing i think the stats don’t show – mustafa’s avg yds per carry is 5, but i don’t think he has many 5 yard runs; i think he has a lot of really short gains and a number of breakout runs. i’d like it a little better if we had a back who was good for 5 or 6 yards with some regularity, it would be good for long, sustained drives.

For the team based stats, would it be possible to also get a change from the previous week? That way we can see at a glance if the team is improving, worse, treading water relative to the rest of ACC/nation. Even just a red/green arrow up/down might work.

If not, that’s fine, as that’s one more thing to have to figure out, making this list take even longer than the time I’m sure it takes to put together now.

Thanks WV Wolf – great work.

    Thanks – good stuff here.

I’m interested to see how we do vs. ECU. We haven’t played a great passing team yet – so they’ll give us a good idea of the effectiveness of our passing D.

Look for our D to play lots of 3 DLs, 3 LB, 5 DB sets…Tenuta/Archer seem to like this formation in passing downs and I think we used it a lot vs. Cincy.

Here’s another interesting ECU stat going into our game:
For average “rushes per game” – they are 115th.

OTOH, we’re pretty much in the middle at 65th…and I sometimes think we pass too much.

Good stuff! Like the fumble break-out. Also like the fact that we’re 1 in ACC attendance and 19 nationally. Looking at the punter stats, it’s quite clear who has done the better job. It’s nice to see a weapon there.

Now, would you be so kind as to explain, in detail, the quarterback rating number? JK!

It’s good that you’re being transparent with your stat production. I would hate to see you get slapped with LOIC.

Khan, just keep in mind that the 1st/19th category is total attendence. Our schedule has been top heavy with home games, once we start hitting the road more those rankings will go down.

  9. WolftownVA81 10/13/2010 at 12:07 PM #

Thanks, good info. The numbers seem to back up the feeling that we’re a pretty good team this year. Onward and upwards. Go Pack and beat ECU – a good opportunity to move these numbers even higher.

This is a great weekly read, and I have a request if not too much trouble:

Could you add Time of Possession? It may help frame some of the O/D numbers

  11. Khan 10/13/2010 at 1:53 PM #

^^^ Ahh, I didn’t realize that. Perhaps I should seek out a tutor.

    Thanks for the clarification.
