GT Game / Potential Semi-Live Blog

We have company this morning, so I don’t know when I will post updates, or how often. Clearly, this is the biggest game of Tom O’Brien’s tenure. A win here could catapault NC State into legitimate contention for the Atlantic Division crown, along with Top 25 honors. A loss, and it’s TOB’s fourth consecutive 0-1 ACC start – and the wheels could come off quickly.

You want analysis? Our own Alpha Wolf has you covered with far better analysis than you will find anywhere in the paid media; GAWolf has set you up with a little NC State-talk in this entry; and our message boards have at least a dozen threads from this week discussing different aspects of today’s game.

You want the opinions of a simpleton like me? I’ve seen Georgia Tech play twice, and NC State play three times. NC State looked like a good football team (not great, but good). Georgia Tech looked like hot garbage smells. If we play our game, I fully expect a win today.

I’m glad this was on ESPN since they called State a “Faux 3-0” team…

  7. Wufpacker 09/25/2010 at 2:56 PM #

Augustin could have caught that. Batting it down was instinct.

should be 51 pts against the defending champs if we could hit 30 yrd field goals

    Nate on the blitz!
Great statement made–Convincing defeat of the defending ACC Champs in their house!!

Well Gents, it looks like the important game objectives that State needed to accomplish to win have been accomplished today: stingy D and productive offense.

Only D grade for the game goes to Cjakowski.

Very, very good character shown by this team to not fold when GT cut the lead to 3 almost instantly.

Also, credit to the coaches for going aggressive again and re-seizing momentum.

    Nice win, guys.

“should be 51 pts against the defending champs if we could hit 30 yrd field goals”

jeebus – Can’t be happy with the 45 and huge road win, eh?

  18. packbackr04 09/25/2010 at 3:00 PM #

wee needed to pick up a 1st down to run the clock. mustafa is the only back we have that can do that

  19. Plz2BStateFan 09/25/2010 at 3:00 PM #

No longer is this GT offense the scary specter for me.

  20. packbackr04 09/25/2010 at 3:01 PM #

no, im very happy… 51 pts woulda/coulda/shoulda been HUGE though!

I did not think we would put up 45 on GT today. It seems to me the coaching staff likes to hold Greene out to save his legs for the 4th QT. He’s had big runs during that period in most of the games so far. Haynes didn’t do anything spectacular today, but he also didn’t put the ball on the ground so that’s an improvement. Give Greene another game or two and he’ll be the starting back. He’s still working on pass protection and learning the offense, but he’s obviously the real deal at NC State. Best freshman back since TA, no?

Can the recruit from Hoggard be our punter and our kicker next year or is he just a punter?

  23. Wufpacker 09/25/2010 at 3:02 PM #

Personally…I hope this win does NOT get us into the top 25. I want this team to go up against VT with chip on it’s shoulder with something to prove.

  24. stejen 09/25/2010 at 3:02 PM #

    Yay! What a great win!

  25. JeremyH 09/25/2010 at 3:02 PM #

the weak areas are the secondary and kick game, *but* we are strong (enough) in all-offensive positions and defensive line/ linebackers that it can be more than made up for, esp. against the current ACC.

can we go ahead and play Carolina tonight? they don’t look tired
