Caught in a lie? Little, Austin & others in Miami @ “Aquagirl Weekend” in May…not March?

“Oh! what a tangled web we weave, When first we practise to deceive!” — Sir Walter Scott (Scottish novelist)

Last night, SFN ran a fun story (linked here) focused on Marvin Austin’s pictures and tweets and is currently blowing up the internet with attention and traffic.

Some of the pictures and comments served to contradict comments made in the press by Greg Little and his father. (Are you picking up on the reasons why there is a 100% lockdown on allowing anyone from UNC-Chapel Hill’s football program to speak to the media? They obviously still haven’t got all of their stories straight.

Joe Giglio at the N&O and ACCNow astutely noticed the discrepancy and made note of the contradictions a blog entry this morning. (Link)

The picture was posted by Miss Natalie Nunn on Tweetphoto. According to Nunn’s web site, she is a reality show star (“Bad Girls Club”), model and “an entertainer, a lover, a friend to many, an athlete, and personality on television.”

Also, Little’s father said his son and Austin went to Miam in March on spring break. The time-stamp on the photo would suggest the pair made two trips to Miami in three months.

Little was interviewed by the NCAA earlier this month in Chapel Hill, his father said, and so was Austin, according to sources.

Since this news broke, it has come to my attention that many UNC-CH fans and media apologists have gone into scramble mode to cover Greg Little’s – “My dad paid for my trip to Miami but that was in March” -story with a half-assed explanation that those pictures could have been taken in March and not uploaded until May. This theory seems to originated in this tweet from Raleigh radio host, Joe Ovies.

by the way, that picture simply could have been taken in March and uploaded in May

I am not arguing the point that Greg Little took a trip to Miami in March – he and his father have publicly stated that to be the case. But, I’m telling you…Greg Little was also in Miami in May of this year; and I’m getting ready to show you how & why I know this. In doing so, I ask the question, “why in the hell media members would so innately default into a mode of rationalization, excusing and justifying what they see with their on friggin eyes?” (I know…that is rhetorical.)

The following additional pictures prove my point and create a world of hurt for Greg Little and his daddy:

Joe Ovies tweeted about this ^ picture that was in my original piece : “that picture simply could have been taken in March and uploaded in May” — something the media would FOR SURE be doing if State was involved here, Right?

It appears that Marvin Austin and Greg Little were down in Miami at an event called “Aquagirl Weekend.”  I watched The Superfriends as a child and I don’t remember any “Aquagirl,” so I think I have figured out that this is not a superhero reference.

This Aquagirl thing is pretty cool.  You can go to the website and learn that it is a “week long celebration for women who love women.”  Hey, who would not want to be there for that!? I want to go next year! I just don’t know how I would have afforded such a trip with my friends while I was in college – after a semester where I took multiple trips to Washington, Miami and potentially New York and Las Vegas.

But I digress….when you research ‘Aquagirl Weekend’ you will also see that it was held in Southbeach (Miami, FL) from May 12th through May 16th this year.

How do we link Aquagirl (and Little’s apparent May trip) into this whole thing?

drumroll

ta-da!

Same girls, same outfits, same hat, obviously the same party.  And look at the message above the picture.

So the dates are apparently exactly what I said they were.  I assume one of these girls is reality TV Star Miss Natalie Nunn.  certainly she could shed some light on this dates issue (if there still is one).  I have no idea what “VH1 Exotica” is, and I don’t have time to get into it right now.  I will have to let the media finally step up and so some of their own work here. (My comments about the media do not apply to J.P. Giglio, who is actually coving this story well.  Imagine that!  It’s sad that the one guy doing the work is the one who stands out.)

In parting…if you need one other undiscussed and unexplained item that is slipping through the cracks…can anyone explain the following picture posted on May 31st by UNC defensive back, Kendric Burney? Note, I’m not accusing Burney of anything…but with such little disclosure and discussion coming from the North Carolina Football program we don’t have anything but our eyes to use to draw conclusions.

Remember everyone — this thing is limited only to Marvin Austin. Rinse & repeat. Rinse & repeat.

Wasn’t the Reggie Bush and agent issue defined as lack of institutional control as well?

It was much bigger than Reggie Bush. There was a lot to it. 67 pages worth.

USC officials lied and tried to cover up things that happened. Lying by an assistant coach is mentioned on one of the 1st few pages. In a quick scan, I hotels in San Diego, family transportation to bowl games, personal transportation for Bush, a trip to Hawaii, lodging for his family for an entire year, etc…I didn’t get to the part that talks about USC’s lack of oversight, but I am sure it is in there.

At this point, there are no reports or facts that support any sort of institutional claim. The media can’t make baseless accusations if people aren’t talking.

right or wrong…. we’ve been told for 25+ years now that our hoops team was CHEATING, because the players sold their sneakers…

i’ll be damned if i’m not going to convict unx’s PROGRAM if one of their players is found in the wrong.

but by all means daily…. tell me WHERE i’m wrong on this.

    i’m all ears!

Let’s pretend for just a second that some of UNC’s coaching staff (if not all of them) knew nothing about MA’s multiple extravagant trips to various places in the country during the spring….isn’t that ON THEM? Isn’t that the definition of “lack of institutional control”?

Nobody is asking that you put an anklet on all 85+ players on the team, but it just might be a good idea to keep extra good tabs on your best (NFL ready) talent….particularly the ones who are (apparently) dumb as a bag of rocks, and have questionable character.

I mean…nobody on the staff thinks it might be a good idea to follow their players’ twitter accounts to spot possible indiscretions?

…add in the fact that it appears that Little (and who knows who else) were involved in this jet-setting adventure.

Please. This isn’t just about the players. This is about a coaching staff, and by association, the University’s lack of interest in making sure their best players are staying away from agents, because in the end, they just want them to stay on campus. If some agents funnel some money to their guys so that they can live like Rock Stars during their final year on campus, so be it.

Grant: Everything centers on the Agent Party that apparently happened in May. Georgia is now being investigated as well. Maybe lack of instit. control will be proven. But at this point, a week into the scandal, I don’t see how anyone could have expected more from the media. If all that you claim really did happen, then I don’t see how anyone could expect it to be reported less than a week into the scandal. Nobody is going on the record, no UNC officials coming out making claims, no ex-UNC player’s/manager’s are talking, etc(all things that happened during the V scandal)…is the media supposed to make stuff up?

Secretary of State now investigating without UNC’s request.

so????? my thinking is NOT wrong???
    COOL!

just wanted to give someone a chance to steer me in the right direction if i was wrong.

    thanks!

    blame the PROGRAM it is!

PS: Mad props to Statefansnation on the coverage of this hilarious ordeal.

TOB4Prez: I agree with you on the obvious truth that this situation has certainly no less of a nexus between the athlete and the institution as the V situation. In fact, the jury *should* be still out on whether it rises to a situation with greater culpability attached to the respective program. Indeed there is yet a smoking gun that UNC knew about much less condoned or participated in this wrongdoing, but there’s no hard and fast evidence to the contrary either. The media’s quick circling of the wagons may very well be in the effectiveness of UNC’s sport’s information department and thei ability to damage control. As I’ve stated earlier,Our University tends to put the bullet in the gun and pull the trigger when we’re in the crosshairs through piss poor management of information manipulation. Hopefully under the new regime that will begin to change. Nonetheless, we’re left envying what has been a pretty effective “fixin'” at least up to this point by the UNC spin machine. Still I think it’s going to take some time to get to the bottom of this, and with government entities now looking into this mamtter possibly from a criminal investigation perspective MUCH more could come out as people start to sing to save their own hides. In other words, while the edia shouldnt jump the gun and go as far as opinion blogs such as this might be able to go, those primary outlets shouldnt just feel that they need to eat whatever UNC is shoving down their throats.

“I haven’t seen a media outlet suggest that any of the accused UNC player’s are not guilty. I think where State fans have their anger misplaced in this case is that just because UNC players may have done something wrong doesn’t mean that UNC has done something wrong. That is a huge leap for State fans to expect the media to take at this point with no facts of any official or coach at UNC having violated NCAA rules.”

Yes, but there was PLENTY of evidence publicly available (the evidence that caught the attention of the NCAA), and Carolina either chose to ignore it, or they didn’t know about it when they SHOULD have known about it. Either way, I think a case could be made for a lack of institutional control. Choosing to look the other way is not an acceptable excuse for things happening right under your nose.
