Alabama’s Dareus Declared Ineligible

HOOVER | University of Alabama defensive end Marcell Dareus has been declared ineligible and is believed to be the only UA player who attended a party in Miami hosted by a sports agent, a source close to the situation told The Tuscaloosa News.

UA will petition immediately for the reinstatement of Dareus’ eligibility. The NCAA will make the ultimate ruling on when, or if, Dareus will be reinstated. It is standard procedure for a player to be declared ineligible immediately whenever a question of whether the player violated NCAA rules arises..

UA is conducting an investigation into whether Dareus paid his own expenses for the

trip, and whether the circumstances of the trip constitute an NCAA violation. Under NCAA rules, student-athletes are not permitted to accept cash or anything of value from sports agents or their representatives.

Dareus may be part of a larger NCAA probe into agent activity, as the NCAA has spoken with North Carolina defensive lineman Marvin Austin and South Carolina tight end Weslye Saunders about their knowledge of the same party. Austin’s alleged agent involvement, according to the source, is of a more serious nature than that of Dareus.

“And this hasn’t happened at the Hole because … ???”

Austin isn’t the only one involved.

Take note of how it is done.
    Rogue identified.
Paint him as the sole cause & problem.
SEPARATE him from all the other players and the program and hand him over to the NCAA.
Let the NCAA know “we want him back ASAP”–and, BTW, there’s no need to probe any farther into our program.

Watch how the sacrifical lambs are displayed in weeks ahead to protect the recruiting advantages and keep the dirty recruiters on staff.

There are pix of Austin and Little, and one posted (and one would naturally assume taken) by Burney, on the scene in Miami for the Lesbian Ho-Fest in May.

How many more ‘Ho’les players were in attendance ?

Greg Little, Sr. must be shelling out A BUNDLE in monthly allowance for Jr., if he can float all these guys a good time on his tab…especially the cupcakes !

Declare ineligible by the NCAA or by the univ?

^Note, the longer this goes on in Chapel Hill, the worse things REALLY are. The NCAA is still compiling ‘evidence’ as well as figuring out who else may be implicated. Why is this taking so long for the Holes? ‘Cause it ‘aint over.

Which is pretty amazing, considering all of the evidence that MA put out there himself! What will be interesting, is how many of these other players were snitched out BY Austin (or by his reckless Twittering/picture taking/Facebooking)…Wouldn’t it be fun to find out that MA was at the very heart the scandal that caused players from Alabama and South Carolina (among possible other schools) being outed and whole programs (especially in the SEC) suffering because of a Tarhole?

^MatSci94, pretty certain declared by the univ. They are singling him out, throwing him to the NCAA saying they’ve done their own investigation (implying no more investigating is needed by NCAA). Expect for them to ask the NCAA for him to still be able to play though.

Don’t remember where I read the above scenario earlier, but it is not original to me. Credit is due elsewhere.

ppack3: Should make that game in Hotlanta pretty intense…

“UA will petition immediately for the reinstatement of Dareus’ eligibility.” – Why would they petition the NCAA to reinstate his eligibility, when the NCAA DIDN’T declare him ineligible?

PW, maybe it’ll be intense because of all of the scandals, but the score won’t be close. I didn’t subscribe to the idea that UNC had a chance to win that game BEFORE all of this mess. Now, it’ll just be an embarrassment! I love it!

Actually, I think it would be funnier if Weslye Saunders turns out to have spilled the beans on all of them and they take out a contract on Barry and Weslye!!

Highstick: It sounds like that is what happened. Saban stated that a player coordinated a gathering of players and agents.

The only GOOD thing about not having any highly-sought players 😉

As an ncsu and bama grad I’m really interested in this matter. I think its weird the last guy in the pool is the first one out. My prediction, especially after seeing the kendrick burney connection, is dareus comes out clean, cooperates w/ the ncaa and comes out w/ 4 games(not bad considering). Saunders and everyone else dareus implicates gets hammered for lying.

Somebody has not been truthful on this. Don’t know who and it’s time to start “waterboarding”~~~
