If he’s so damn good at his *^$&#*$($ job, why can’t he get another one? Why was he fired?

The SE Athletic Director of the Year Award is now about as credible as the Nobel Peace Prize.

I guess now Lee can leave NC State saying he at least won something. Because God knows NC State never won anything of note while he was the almighty director.

    So the benchmark for best AD of the year in the southeast is no bowl game, no ticket to the big dance, no national titles, no conference titles in revenue sports and one conference title in men’s cross country.

    One of the criteria for the award is “Demonstrate the ability to inspire individuals or groups to high levels of accomplishment.”
    Oops.

    What a stupid joke of an idea!!!! This organization has no credibility as a result IMO – just stroking their own with absolutely no justification even if it was voted before the firing! Their criterion must be to award the best cougar hunter in their midst. It certainly reduces the prestige of the award for those previously awarded.

    I bet all those other schools are just kicking themselves over this. Not hiring him when they had all those chances. I mean just look at the on the field success….oops.. must have been the impossible circumstances that kept us from winning anything in all that time….

    Sigh. Now we are destined to hear this crap from the media and opposing fanbases for several more years about us pushing out a perfectly good AD. And just wait to see how bad it gets if we get *worse* in football or basketball.

    And lol at the SE Hillsboro St AD of the Year ^^ (although I think Meredith College’s AD may have him beat).

    I think Kennell may have refered to this just after Lee was let go. Maybe they let him stay until 6-30 so that he would get the award as NCSU AD…

    OH the irony. The media will have a field day but in the long run NC State gets the last laugh because there isn’t a BCS school in America that is going to hire Lee and he will spend many days on the lake doing what he does best……fishing. Hey, maybe he coached the bass fishing team; that’s why he thought we were so successful.

    Look. The man has had a 10 year career at a large state university making several hundred thousand per and has personally been responsible for nothing that could be considered progress compared his peer group. Not only that he has traveled the country at someone else’s expense, gotten contract extensions, and is walking away with a severence package that would make many of us head to the beach for several years. Hell he DESERVES the award. Do nothing, say stupid stuff, piss off the bulk of your customers, get paid damn well for a decade, and walk away without needing to go to work anytime soon if ever. That my friends is one hell of an accomplishment. I salute you Mr. Fowler. Too bad we all couldn’t have been skilled enough to milk a gig for as long as you did. You won’t be missed, but you will be long revered as the gold standard of incompetence.

    Let me start by saying “don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya Lee”. That formality out of the way, Lee was an outstanding at raising funds and improving facilities. My guess is that the credit should be shared between his former office and the Wolfpack Club. Shared or not, he did that portion well. As far as the rest of it, I’m glad he is now spending his payout. With any luck, our new Chancellor will bring in a fresh face that gets the needs of Wolfpack Nation.
