Even though it is an advanced subject (given their inability to spell and utilize correct grammar basics) I would heartily recommend that some folks in the SID’s office make a mandatory trip to the Copyediting.com Online Training site and successfully complete the classes. While lax spelling and grammar are suitable for texts, Tweets and personal emails, graphics and communications professionals are expected to meet a higher standard. One slip is an accident. Two, someone isn’t paying attention. Three or more? That’s incompetence. After all, many English professors at NCSU are well known for giving failing grades to freshmen when they turn in papers with similarly poor editing.
