ACC’s new TV deal coming within 10 days

It was a busy Thursday evening for several NC State coaches as hundreds of fans packed a Wolfpack Club Caravan at the football practice facility. With the exit of Lee Fowler coming at the end of June and all of the excitement surrounding men’s basketball, the caravan was quite a big draw for local media. Ken Tysiac said it wasn’t too awkward considering the situation Thursday night.

The end of the ACC meetings this week also prompted discussion of the ACC’s new TV deal, which should be announced soon. Fowler said the deal should be announced to the public within the next 10 days and should allow for more coverage of non-revenue sports.

Caulton Tudor talked more about the TV deal in today’s N&O.

ACC doesn’t have TV deal yet

The ACC ended its spring meetings on Wednesday in Amelia Island, Fla., without announcing a new basic television contract to follow the various deals that will expire at the end of the 2010-11 school year.

Even so, the endgame almost certainly will include a pact with ESPN to be the ACC’s primary carrier.

The only other possible alternative is Fox Sports, which enjoyed much success with its Sunday ACC basketball package. However, Fox still doesn’t quite have the financial muscle to outbid ESPN.

Here’s some video worth taking the time to watch. Check back later today for some thoughts on the excitement surrounding NC State basketball heading into 2010-2011. It might not be exactly what you’d expect.

“Politely, Woodson told Fowler that he looked tan. Fowler explained that it hadn’t been from being out in the sun at Amelia Island in Florida…”

Hahahaha. He must have been working real hard :). Those 4 hour days will get to you.

Where’s the link to Sidney’s interview? I would think that would be of particular interest considering recent developments. Plus, he says that as far as the Wolfpack BBall Program knows, Lo Brown is fully qualified for next year! GO PACK!

Looks like Bobby Purcell might have a plan to get the AD job. Involves Ponder at ASU. TBJ had it in their story today.
