Leslie recommits to NC State for 2010, says Wolfpack can be ‘great’

And there you have it. CJ Leslie will be a member of the Wolfpack in 2010. Both Pack Pride and the Wolfpacker are reporting the commitment as well as WRAL Sports Fan.

Pack Pride Link

This comes on the heels of the N&O’s report this morning about Leslie committing within the next couple of days. Leslie’s commitment makes NC State’s recruiting class a top 10 class without question and makes it possibly a top 5 class nationally. Leslie, the No. 3 power forward propsect according to Scout.com, should make an instant impact on the Wolfpack lineup.

Check back later for much more on this.

Here’s some other reports on Leslie’s verbal commitment. Also, go here to listen to Julius Hodge’s reaction to CJ Leslie’s decision.

PackPride: Confirmation from Leslie

NC State picked up a huge commitment today when Raleigh (NC) Word of God standout forward C.J. Leslie verbally committed to head coach Sidney Lowe.

“I just committed back to NC State,” said Leslie’ “I committed to coach Lowe today on campus, and he and the other coaches were all real happy.

“I wanted to see what else was out there and that’s something I did. At the end I felt like it was the right situation for me to be in.”

WRAL: Leslie picks NC State

NC State picked up a huge commitment today when Raleigh (NC) Word of God standout forward C.J. Leslie has verbally committed to the Wolfpack.

Leslie chose NC State over offers from Kentucky and UCONN among others. He is rated a five-star prospect and the No. 3 power forward in the country by Scout.com.

N&O: Leslie picks NC State

N.C. State landed one of its most noteworthy recruits of the Coach Sidney Lowe era on Wednesday afternoon when C.J. Leslie of Raleigh Word of God, one of the top dozen rated senior prospects in the country, committed to the Wolfpack.

“I’m going to N.C. State,” Leslie said. “It is a great school and we can be good there. And obviously, Coach Lowe is a great coach.”

Leslie, a 6-foot-8 basketball forward, picked State over Kentucky and Connecticut.

Leslie said Wednesday morning that he was undecided with Kentucky and Connecticut still in the the picture, but he decided during the day that he was sure he wanted to run with the Wolfpack.

“It was really up for grabs,” he said. “It was really close with the other two schools.”

Poor kid. He just signed up for two years of bad calls, multiple high ankle sprains, and long ice baths with Rozanski.

    *claps for coach Lowe*

Well played Lowe. Teach these guys to ball and wins some games and you’ll have plenty of good will directed towards you after the season is over.

I am really happy for Sid. He was there for this kid DAY ONE. Before kentucky/UConn/etc. SID recruited this kid. No matter what some of our fan base says, Sid usually has his team playing better at the end of the year(unlike WFUs Dino). Now he finally has some talent. we should all be very excited to be NCSU fans right now. The program is on the rise.

Now if we can just him away from the College Inn and off duty police officers.

Congrats Sid! But on the flip side, the spotlight is now on you, time to produce. I wish you the best of luck.

“NC State on top of ACC with Leslie?”

The headline for an ESPN Insider blog entry. Takes some getting used to… Been a long time since serious talk of that nature, especially from a national outlet.

I still can’t believe it. This is just a beautiful victory for Coach Lowe. I love it. I am speechless. Damn, only 7 months to go!!!!

  22. Dogbreath 04/28/2010 at 6:14 PM #

Vandenberg and Painter better be ready to log some major minutes because the zebras are going to come at Smith and Leslie with a vengeance.

  23. Texpack 04/28/2010 at 6:16 PM #

This is certainly good news even though I’ve seen more than one savior recruit fail to pan out in the ACC. Hopefully there will be enough players around him next year to spread the load around. Nice job Sidney.

  24. 61Packer 04/28/2010 at 7:02 PM #

I don’t know how good Leslie and Harrow will turn out to be, but they sound like they bleed Wolfpack Red. That’s a good start. What I want to see is NCSU getting over .500 in the ACC next season, and then having both these players coming back for a second season to improve on that.

The last thing I want is another one and done situation like we had with JJ Hickson.

  25. EdMar 04/28/2010 at 7:08 PM #

    Welcome and thanks CJ.
    Congrats Sid!

We now have the combination of experience and young talent. Lets not forget that at least three of four other schools in the ACC have this type talent, but HE WILL be able to compete.

Do not hang around the football players…
