It’s a busy day for Wolfpack basketball. The women’s team, led by first year coach Kellie Harper, will take on Duke in the ACC Championship from the Greensboro Coliseum at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net.

The men’s team wraps up its season this afternoon against Boston College at 2 p.m. in the RBC Center. The game is on Raycom. Although Miami’s loss to FSU Saturday putting the Pack firmly into 11th place regardless of what happens today, NC State still has a chance to beat BC and head into the ACC tournament on a positive note.

This is the spot to post your thoughts about both games as they happen. I’ll be at the RBC Center to cover the men’s game so I’ll have Twitter updates and info beginning around 2 p.m. For coverage of the women’s game check out FSN and follow Technician Sports on Twitter. Those guys did a great job with game updates yesterday during the women’s win over Boston College.

I just hope the girl’s team does not follow the rest of the mess we have gone through.

I think the women lost to unc in 07, not Duke.

I was comparing Harper’s first year to Sid’s

I’m not watching the mens game at all. I am however watching the women’s game all the way to the end, even though they are down by 14 right now.

Even with a loss by the women, what a breath of fresh air to see competitive basketball.

State and BC combined for 18 first half TOs

I’m with ya Alias. Watching our men’s team play is like watching paint dry. At least the women are showing some heart.

Horner’s head is bleeding after that takedown by Southern.

i was talking about the stats, but i see they are from gopack.com, so they got it wrong. says we beat duke in 3/07 and then says they won the title!

It is so simple to watch — when we remotely exert ourselves on defense we make things happen. When we play NC State (non) defense…we let them hang in the game.

We may not be the most talented team in basketball history, but we can go 10+ deep. I don’t understand how/why we can’t/don’t force the issue with more defensive pressure at every position with the number of players we have that can contribute.

The few times we have pressed have worked.

I’m no basketball genius but that about sums up my feelings too, SFN.

I sure hope we can win this game for Horner. He’s playing well and deserves it.

I just heard, we have no TO’s in the second half. That has been our killer all year. If we take care of the ball, we could of seen alot more numbers on the left side of the win-loss column.

Horner has played very well today and I agree GAWolf, he does deserve. He has been one of the bright spots of the year. I think his knee limited him during that stretch earlier in the year.

Nice win…would have been nice to have that CJ kid all year long…nice little run to end the season…but you have to wonder if this team could have done a little bit more.

Good win today, but I have to say it is frustrating that the coaching staff took the entire regular season to realize that CJ Williams is much more comfortable at small forward than shooting guard. And notice we had Javi float to the SG position at the end of the game to give us scoring but not have the pressure of running the offense on him. I’m beginning to think the coaching staff read my last post…

And why did it take us the entire season to play Johnny Thomas for any extended period? Not that he tore it up, but the 6 rebounds were nice.

I’m really glad to see Horner finish up at the RBC so strong. He deserved it, a good player and someone I think of as a real State guy. Great win at home and great win for the seniors. A good run to end the regular season. Hopefully it can be built upon if not in the ACC tourney then into next year. The spark that has flickered off and on this year definitely showed up at the end of this game. It gives me hope.

The reason we don’t press is because we lack talent and “productive” depth. IF we run up and down the court all we do is wear out Tracy, get Javi in foul trouble and commit turnovers. Next year, I think the press will work much better because we will have depth behind Tracy in Howell/Cothron/Painter(maybe CJL) and we will have depth at guard with Harrow/Brown/Javi. You can’t press a talented team with a team lacking talent….the only reason it worked vs BC is they are equally untalented. It was nice to see CJW show up though….

womens bracketology will be updated Monday morning…even before the tourney, we were “last four in”…so I’m sure the run made us a shoo in…question is whether we can move up to a 6 or even 5 seed. (I’ll frankly be disappointed in an 8 or 9 seed).

Congratulation women! Fantastic run, looking forward to post season with a team with real, giant killer potential.

The guys winning and the boys in baby blue getting their butts handed to them make it an enjoyable weekend.

” I’m not sure Raycom has that right since it’s distributed to various local channels, which just happens to be CBS/WRAL in the Triangle.”

Well its not up to Raycom…Raycom provides a broadcast, but they have no control over when your local affiliate decides to switch to that broadcast. WRAL, however, could easily choose to switch to the Raycom game when it started. Instead, they choose to stick with a game that has much less interest in this area, and THEN go to a 3 minute commercial break. At least when the cable networks have runover, they get you to the second game as quickly as possible.

Regarding the men’s team, I was thinking while watching the game how perplexing the team is. The Pack has guys who can play but you never know if they’re going to show up or not. One game Javi looks great, the next one he’s throwing it away time and again. Horner has been playing really good, but earlier in the year I was begging Sid to play Howell more. And today, Howell was making beautiful passes from the high post. Where has that been? And then there’s C.J. Williams. Need I say more? I’m not making excuses for Sid, but I can see why the team is hard to coach. You never know who’s going to play. And that makes it even tougher for the guys to get used to playing together.

I’ll have to add that I appreciate Horner sticking with the program. I’m glad he did and he deserved the day he had today. (Still wonder why a flagrant foul wasn’t call when the guy knocked the snot out of him.) Also thanks to Degand for his contributions.

The most perplexing stat of all – 10 turnovers in the first half, 0 in the second.
