Tracy could always go to Europe. That’s what we’ve been reduced to. The situation is so hopeless here, we lose players to Europe.

  2. Thinkpack17 02/14/2010 at 10:36 AM #

Unless you’re Trajan Langdon I think Europe is one of the back-up plans. Kids from Detriot don’t dream of playing for the Dublin Dingos.

well ^^ my comments are a way of coming to terms with it. sid is heading in the right direction… just wait and see!

Lee Fowler…The best move he made was answering the phone when TOB called to express interest in coaching our football program. We can’t give Lee credit for that because I believe it was our thrilling victory over BC, with Chucky boy at the helm, that caused the Wolfpack Nation to erupt in CF Stadium impressing TOB beyond measure. Why dont they divide Lee’s check among the Wolfpack Nation? Hate to bash our admin. but it’s beyond ugly. Atleast Herb was a winner, now we don’t even get an offer to the NIT.

  5. whope90 02/14/2010 at 1:10 PM #

We do not need Herb, he took the program as far as he could(competive level) and choked at the idea of winer big(acc tournaments, final fours ncaa title etc. To Herb Sendek is a mid -major coach whom use NC State as a stepping stone to a good, secure payout of a weak division one shcool(arizona state) Arizone State has never had any success in basketball and a NIT bid for them is like win it all.

With five games to go: home Maryland,Wake, BC, Road games Vtech Miami
maybe BC and Miami could break the losing streak but after yesterday debacle in Chapel Hill, all bets are off. Once again, state needed a coach yesterday and all they had was a clown in a red blazer!

Where was the zone defense when UNC kept going inside? Have we ever played one? Where was the press? State could have easily won this game if they had a coach? But enough of that! As midnight oil sane,” the time has come!””a fact is a fact” give it back our state basketball team to someone whom can coach!

For all the bloggers whom keep bringing up recruits only one has signed Ryan H and L brown(per today’s n/o) still has not made up for the ACT test(three points short) for qualifing and the CJ Leslie talk is as bad as the John Wll hype. Cj Leslie decommited to State, in other words, he thought about coming but is not! That is what decomit means! And Luke M has not signed anything So we are putting one players ability:ryan H on
resureccting this program??? When coach k started at Duke : his first successfull recruting class was :johnny d , Mark Alaire, David henderson and jay bias: four players not one or one and a half!!

Another interesting tidbit: last night as i reviewed a basketball annual for 2009-2010 of all college basketball teams: It states that “this past summer,Sidney Lowe, was contacted by three NBA teams for coaching positions: ASSISTANT COACHING POSITIONS, mainly with Flip Saunders of the Washington Wizards(bullets,if you know about the players packing heat!!) Would that not be grounds for dismmal? If BC football can fire their coach for talking to the NFL why did state not do that? But also in this 2009-2010 annual, it discussed that SIDNEY LOWE HAS FOUR MORE YEARS OF HIS CONTRACT! Who made that choice? WHY??

This alone speaks volume of the leadership of the AD office and dept as a whole? Our coach turned was being lured for assistant nba coaching jobs, which kind of tells me he is thinking or knows he has a job if he jumps ship!! The please lets push him off!!!

one footnote, even this obsucre basketball annual stated”Coach Lowe at times will play someone for a brief stretch and then make that player disapper, while no other EXPERIENCED COACH IN COLLEGE BASKETBALL NEVER DOES THAT!!!

Because while to you and me this is an indictment against Lowe, to the brilliant mind of Lee Fowler, shit like this is validation.

“Lon Kruger was on my top-five list a couple of years ago. He’s doing very well at UNLV.”

    Noah, I agree.

Just curious (since I’ve blocked out April ’06) — did Kruger even get the chance to say no?

  8. LRM 02/14/2010 at 1:20 PM #

“Tracy could choose to jump early, but that would just be a terrible decision.”

The draft is full of those every season.

After reading Ryans Letter to us I think that young man has more Heart then I will ever have. I have bashed this team since the Wake game, but after reading what he had to say I will not bash this team again. They have my full support as well as Lowe. Thanks Ryan for making me look at it in a better light. GO PACK GO PACK

If we’re talking about coaches, the MWC has some really good coaches in their league. Alford has done really well at New Mexico, Lon Kruger has a very solid team every year at UNLV, and Dave Rose at BYU has them on the cusp of being a top 10 program (though I don’t think Rose would be a candidate here).

Even CUSA has some nice coaches … Tony Barbee is doing a good job at UTEP, and Doug Wojcik has Tulsa heading back in the right direction.

If a coaching change were to take place, raid one of these leagues (or one similar). I agree with the premise of having someone who has solid credentials with proven results over a minimum period of time.

Whoever it would be though would be fighting a lot of inertia. There is defenitely a culture of losing and apathy here now – from the top -> down. (Apathy as far as losing, anyway. You start losing money and I’m sure the powers that be would get off their fat a**es for a moment).

One thing about all the schools mentione above though, at those places you’re the head coach at the the biggest thing in town (so to speak) with a nice built-in recruiting base. There is a recent history of success at all those schools. Do the right things, and the job can manage itself.

No one will have that luxury here in Raleigh. There are many, many good things about our job – but whoever takes it is in for a complete rebuilding job that may take at least 2-3 years. You have a lot of built in advantages here in Raleigh as well, but changing the culture here will take someone of extraordinary character, not just some hotshot program stepper. This self-defeatist sh*t about “We can’t possibly compete with Carowhina” and “We don’t deserve to compete” MUST be the first thing to go. And you have to fight some folks at the top of the food chain in order to get that to change. Not cool.

after reading ryan’s letter, i am refreshed. this young MAN has a great attitude! welcome to NCSU, this is the right school for you. SIDNEY LOWE will make you and lorenzo even better guards, ready for your NBA careers! RYAN, don’t take much of the negative stuff you read about on NCSU blogs too seriously, it is only a prolonged buildup of our disappointment. as you will notice, after a day or two from the games.. things tend to lighten up. NCSU does have the GREATEST fanbase amongst all universities. if you were impressed with the duke game, wait until you see us when the team is in full swing. you seem to be a honorable young man, keep up the good work!

    GO WOLFPACK!

  12. JeremyH 02/14/2010 at 2:09 PM #

in case there was any doubt, incoming recruits read EVERYTHING you folks write in the comments.

“SIDNEY LOWE will make you and lorenzo even better guards, ready for your NBA careers!”

Just curious, which of Lowe’s former point guards (NBA or college) are you basing this off?

  14. Wolfy__79 02/14/2010 at 2:25 PM #

he hasn’t had one that yet. we’ve got two on the way however. when you are the interim head coach in the nba, you have zero chance of getting respect from most nba premaddona’s….. therefore, i was specifically talking about harrow and brown. i’m sure wood will also join the nba. i don’t know about cj yet, i don’t think so.

also, tracy would be crazy to leave before his senior year. bringing in new guys, plus development of painter and howell will free him up to further improve his game….

Please watch this video and think about Larry Drew trying to guard Ryan.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBhOU4r_Wxg

Regardless of how the seasons goes, I can’t wait to watch Ryan Harrow play for State. You put Wood, Smith, Brown, Howell in there too. It will be something special.

“The draft is full of those every season.”

Full? Every season? I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration. Most of the kids that jump for early entry now are way more informed. Most have been assure they will be selected by someone. With the amount of teams leaving their 2nd round draft picks overseas you are just asking to get burned if you aren’t a locked down first rounder.

  17. Thinkpack17 02/14/2010 at 4:35 PM #

“in case there was any doubt, incoming recruits read EVERYTHING you folks write in the comments.”

Indeed. I guess the “recruits don’t read blogs” myth has been put to bed.

I guess the “recruits don’t read blogs” myth has been put to bed.

I don’t think that I have ever seen anyone claim that kids don’t read message boards and blogs.

I almost have my 24 hours of mourning, which is what the V man prescribed after a loss. We need to get a LIFE. There are over 350 posts and I tend to disagree with the bulk of them. I probably do agree with some of the comments during the PBP when the blog was active. We had flashes of brilliance….as did Carolina. If we were at home and had the FAN PARTICIPATION that Carolina DOES….would the outcome have been different. I THINK SO.

Maybe it is TIME for all these LOYAL BLOGGERS to get off their behinds and actually GO TO A GAME… I do get the feeling that a LOT of the posters here are NOT at the game…maybe it is finances, maybe they DO NOT REALIZE that you CAN GET TICKETS.

Last Wednesday nights game against VT was POORLY ATTENDED. We need some MORE noise and excitement in the RBC. YES, if the team were playing a little better, maybe we would have a better crowd.

How MANY of them knew of the issues with Tracy and Richard against VT? Yes, Javi has some turnovers, but without his shooting hand, it would REALLY be UGLY.

Wood needs to get some better looks….but that is Sid’s area, not mine.

I thought we would be a little further along when we hired Sid in 2006, but we are not. That does NOT mean that we will NOT be better next week or next year.

I have already bought my motor home parking pass for Greensboro and my “ticket source” has me tickets. If you look at Craigs List, most of the tickets have a “blue” section about them. Our counterparts at UNX are selling OUT. I don’t know if the WP will be playing on Friday, but I plan to be at the tournament and will continue to wear my WP RED, with LOGO, until Sunday.

SO…quit downing the brewskies…There MAY be a violation of PUI (Posting Under the Influence) here.

Sid is OUR coach. He feels our pain more than we do. We need to have faith in him and our team and our incoming recruits…

    GO PACK!

“I don’t think that I have ever seen anyone claim that kids don’t read message boards and blogs.”

I have definately seen it. The summer convo basically went:

Poster 1: We suck…and we will suck again next year. Our recruiting class is a bunch of bums!
Poster 2: OH NO! Don’t say that! What if they are reading this?
Poster 3: Those kids have better things to do then read crap about this crappy team.

  21. LRM 02/14/2010 at 5:16 PM #

“Sid is OUR coach. He feels our pain more than we do.”

I won’t argue that Sid doesn’t bleed State red and love this school. But I resent the implication that just because he is “our” coach he bleeds a deeper red or wants to win anymore than any of the rest of us (many of whom actually have degrees from this Great University). Being the coach doesn’t somehow entitle him to this.

No one ever questioned how much Les Robinson (an actual State grad) loved this university, but that didn’t make him qualified to be our coach.

  22. VaWolf82 02/14/2010 at 5:22 PM #

Those kids have better things to do then read crap about this crappy team

I’ve seen many arguments about whether or not message boards affect recruits/recruiting. But I never seen anyone claim that they don’t read stuff on the internet.

  23. Noah 02/14/2010 at 5:44 PM #

and Dave Rose at BYU has them on the cusp of being a top 10 program (though I don’t think Rose would be a candidate here).

Dave Rose, formerly of Houston Cougars and Phi Slamma Jamma fame, isn’t he? He was their defensive stopper.

  24. Thinkpack17 02/14/2010 at 5:53 PM #

“But I never seen anyone claim that they don’t read stuff on the internet.”

    I have.

  25. wufpup76 02/14/2010 at 6:09 PM #

^^That is the same Dave Rose, Noah. 🙂

My friend and I grew up pretending we were dunking on Rose all the time. He is still funny to look at during that game. But he is apparently one he** of a coach. Done some really good things at BYU.
