Where was the foul? No one was near Javi g and Julius mayes when they took their shots and no foul is going to be called in the last few seconds of any game, college or pro and to storm off the court to be is cowardice.
Sid, take the fight to the officials and let them have it!!! Don’t run off the court and hide? Would Coach K do that? Would Roy or even Gary Williams?
Heck, they would fight and even get a reprimand which means nothing?
But where was the set play? Gtech about blew this game as much as state tried to rally. For once, we pressed and give the young guns credit! Depsite having no direction, they fought to win the game at the end?
Yelling at his players for calling a timeout when they tied up the ball?
They had two left and then calls time out with 34 second left?
    Huh ?
This team needed a coach tonight and has some solid pieces:
Wood Howell smith vberg and needs to be coached to finish their plays like howell has stated!!!
    2-7/14-10
When will this coach accept this loss or any losses?

Word to Raycom sports:hire some game analysis whom have actually seen nc state? Sidney Lowe needs some time and has not gotten any heat in Raliegh? What rock have they been under?
Put i credit the young guns! Once again, by THEMSELVES, they almost won another game without any direction or strategy from Lowe and his band o f suits on the bench?
    “WHAT DO THEY DO?’

Hahaha! Classic. Very predictable and usual result.

Hey whope90 Sid WAS taking it to the officials after the game according to the radio announcers. There was no cowardice involved they said Sid didn’t shake hands BECAUSE he was storming off the court chasing the officials off down the tunnel b/c he was pissed! Not because he was being cowardly. Get it straight, the refs leave first thing and Sid was going after THEM!

“what about the heart our team showed with that comeback. wow!!! That is very positive. I know we lost, but man what a comeback.”

Some of our players do have heart, I will give you that, but this wasn’t as much about heart as it was GT collapsing towards the end of the game. They are not the best disciplined team in the league by any means either. The coaching strategy was god awful from the start of the game, and despite playing hard in the last 4 minutes, we had dug ourselves in too big of a hole by that point. We got within 1 point, but our guard play did nothing to help us take the lead when we had a chance to with the ball after they committed that offensive foul.

Good teams find ways to win, bad teams find ways to lose, and NC State is just a bad team this year. Recruiting will be what saves Lowe’s job for next year, but with the recruiting class he had coming in this year shouldn’t we have expected some sort of improvement. He has been stagnant all 4 years here with no better than a 10th place ACC finish, and this year we actually look to be digressing.

A little coaching in the second half and we could have won that one. It is looking bleak.

  6. TheCOWDOG 02/06/2010 at 7:09 PM #

One storms off the court when ejected after 2 technicals, At end game like tonite, ya bolt straight at and get in the face of the Zebra.

After ya tell him that you’ll make sure that he’ll never officiate another game involving your school, ya look for the opposing coach and give him the most half assed handshake you can muster.

Then you ask yourself, why did I wait until we were 12 down and 4 left to press. And how did I get down double didges out of halftime?

Did you guys see some confidence come back in this team once there was no choice but to press?

Great set in the timeout at 18 seconds. When that TO was called, I said game over. Sure enough. True to form, there was no set.

The comeback was purely great desire by our guys and big time choke from the other guys.

Mr. Medlin, Sid’s storm off the court ain’t what we’re looking for.

    Dear Prospective NC State Fan,

Thank you for your interest in supporting our fantastic and storied program. Ours is a history of great players, games, and drama that will surely delight avid fans and sportsmen. However, it is customary that we issue a list of what you can expect as a proud member of the Wolfpack Nation.

Over the history of Wolfpack athletics, we have won conference and national championships in several sports. Recently, though, we have begun to focus our efforts on more important things. As you know, athletics is not about winning or losing. It is about buildings and equipment. At NC State, we have excellent facilities for our student athletes. Our recently renovated centers are state-of-the-art, allowing our players to train under optimum circumstances and with premium equipment. We are told that these facilities will increase our competitiveness, but we will have to wait for confirmation of that claim.

Our coaches are of the highest caliber. They are fantastic people, and we are proud to give them the opportunity to succeed. We are so confident of their competence that we are willing to give them their positions without expectations of progress or victories. We are one of the few schools in the NCAA willing to make such an offer, which makes a position within the Athletic Department at NC State a highly coveted one. We like our coaches to experience as little stress as possible.

If you’re like most sports fans, you will often check popular sports sites on the Internet. We encourage such actions. You will often find highlights on sites such as ESPN.com. Those clips will show great plays and extraordinary feats of athleticism. When you watch those videos, you will notice the athletes of NC State standing below the player making the dunk or chasing the player with the football. It is good that we have such media exposure.

Another wonderful aspect of being a pack fan is that you can always be the underdog. Everyone enjoys rooting for the underdog, and NC State has perfected that role. We are never expected to win, and therefore can always celebrate when those rare victories come. We also defy expectations, except on the occasion that those expectations are low. During those times, we give the fans what they expect and more.

Do not let our history fool you. We are all aware of our dark past as a competitor on the national level. We refuse to let this happen again. We feel that our status as a regional spoiler is preferable to that of a national powerhouse. Our athletic department is overworked as it is, and they would rather deal with media and fans when the rare victory arises rather than on a regular basis.

As you will see during your time as a Pack fan, we enjoy providing inspirational and often lucky moments for fans. Whether it be a receiving foul call on a three-point shot during the NCAA tournament or having officials miss the same call when it would benefit the Pack, we make sure our opponents’ fans enjoy their luck. We are occasionally forced to shoot prayer shots at the end of games, and they usually do not fall for us. However, rest assured that our opponents hit those shots often and in incredible ways.

Long will you, as a State fan, lie in wait for “next year” and “someday.” We have been assured that we will have quality athletic programs across the board during these times. It will be then that our fans will have the satisfaction of knowing victory. We will always win “next year.”

If you feel that our ideals are in tune with your own, please feel free to cheer for us as you see fit. We are sure that you will find your time with the Wolfpack as fulfilling as our other loyal fans.

    Sincerely,

The Athletic Department of NC State University

Avatar was a really good movie, especially in 3D.

  9. leewolf 02/06/2010 at 7:33 PM #

I enjoyed the heart and hustle of the comeback, but we need to play like that for WHOLE GAME! Not just in fits and spurts.

Javi/Mays..they have improved but they are never going to be ACC caliber. Until we have guards that are of that caliber we are going to continue to lose games where the inside game is taken away from us.

The comeback doesn’t matter unless we come out and beat VT next week and take the fight to UNC and kick their asses in Chapel Hill too. If that happens then maybe this is some sort of turning point. If not…then oh well, just another disappointment.

  10. TheCOWDOG 02/06/2010 at 7:36 PM #

    @Chain

Family saw it w/o me first. Revisited in 3D w/ me in tow and came out telling me that the remake was much better.

  11. D_Medlin 02/06/2010 at 7:37 PM #

It doesn’t matter what you’re looking for because Sid (or anyone else for that matter) won’t be good enough.

I just find it hilarious that some people have nothing else to do with their time than bash someone. I’m sure there are a ton of registered users on this site who could do better.

  12. whope90 02/06/2010 at 7:38 PM #

Wolfpack2002, Did we see the same game? Sidney Lowe stormed off the court via tv and ran to the corridor and then stopped and looked around! There were no refs or anything or anyone! If you think El Sid is a good coach and needs another year then we as a fanbase are lost! Sidney Lowe should have chewed the refs out and fought them and perhaps maybe gotten a reprimand or a suspension! I could maybe admire that because that would mean that he had a pulse.

Wolfpack202, maybe i am wrong about that(el sid running off the court mad)but i and you and all of us state fans and bloggers and alumni and wolfpackers demand and expect winners and this only comes with coaches that can provide and lead us to victory and Sidney Lowe cannot and will not ever do that for us! He was the wrong man, the wrong hire at the wrong time from the wrong athletic director at our school in the best conference in america, but as always the theme here!
    WTNY!!!!!!!

Maybe we should all go see AVATAR in 3d perhaps in another dimension,
El Sid can coach and State does win!!
    NOT!

i don’t mind being in the cellar so much if my bunkmates are Roy and his Apple Dumpling Gang.

  14. tuckerdorm1983 02/06/2010 at 7:56 PM #

i think i’ve figured it out. We lull them to sleep by letting them get a 15 pt lead and wear themselves out scoring all those points. When they get a false sense that they are going to win with about 2 or 3 mins left in the game, then WHAM!! hit them hard when they least expect it. Rope A Dope. Fly like a butterfly and sting like a bee.

  15. 61Packer 02/06/2010 at 7:58 PM #

When Lowe went into the tunnel at game’s end, he would’ve made many Pack fans happy, me included, if he had just kept on going.

Medlin, your comment of “It doesn’t matter what you’re looking for because Sid (or anyone else for that matter) won’t be good enough” prompts this response.

Sid came from the pros and I definitely believe he’s pro coaching material. I wish we’d send him to the Washington Generals. Whether or not you like Sid, that’s not what’s important to me. What’s important is that we’re again in sole possession of last place in the second half of the ACC season, and we stink.

Maybe it’s good enough for you, but THIS ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH FOR THIS PACK FAN.

  16. Thinkpack17 02/06/2010 at 8:00 PM #

Did this dude just throw out “NOT!”? Hilarious.

  17. ncsufan13 02/06/2010 at 8:15 PM #

    @D_Medlin,

It’s cathartic. Gotta rationalize why we are so bad every week. Blaming everyone and anything to do with the team is usually the easiest way to do that.

  18. TheCOWDOG 02/06/2010 at 8:31 PM #

Better than what Mr. Medlin? A more intelligent way to point out that the court walk-off just reinforces some of the questionables?

I’ll lay the line that the over/under on nothing better to do but bash crowd, runs at 10%. I’m taking the under.

  19. D_Medlin 02/06/2010 at 8:35 PM #

    LOL. Whatever you say.

  20. TheCOWDOG 02/06/2010 at 8:43 PM #

Good. Take the under too, and lay the 5 tomorrow.

    Jamieinkorea:

that was one of the funniest things I have read in a long time. Too bad that it is all true.

  23. choppack1 02/06/2010 at 9:21 PM #

“So Sidney can’t get fired up? I thought that was a major complaint against him recently.”

I don’t know what regular poster said that. Heck, he probably moves around the sideline more than any coach in the country. Sid works plenty hard IN the game – I don’t think he and his staff work hard enough BEFORE them.

I was really hoping we’d pull this one out. It could have meant alot. We were down 1 w/ the ball in at least 2 possessions and down 2 w/ the ball at the end = we didn’t score a point in those 3 possessions.

  24. eas 02/06/2010 at 9:26 PM #

I don’t take too much issue with Sid storming off, so long as he went back to locker room and shook hands with hewitt & GT(who is clearly a horrible coach but recruits better than Sid).

As for Sid, I am sure he will be a decent coach down the road but that is not the experiment we should go for. We need a big change across the board and we need it now. Good players will never be great if you can’t coach.

GT is much more athletic and they are very talented. Guess what…..they still suck because Hewitt is awful. This should reinforce why one more year for Sid with his “great” recruits doesn’t make since. Sure I want to see great guard play next year but not with horrid coaching.

On a side note, maybe Sid should spend more time designing a coaching scheme rather at the custom taylor designing “pimp” suits. I still don’t know how a 1k suit will help but hey he looks cool. He would look cooler if he were winning and pumping a men’s warehouse suit. Just win Sid and you can do what you want.

    “I guarantee it”

  25. Wulfpack 02/06/2010 at 9:45 PM #

Sid’s “sideshow” at the end was a disgrace. Totally classless.

I had to DVR the game as I had a ton of other things going on mid-day today, and that was a one ugly game. Complete waste of my time. Both of those teams suck. Both of those coaches couldn’t cut it coaching my little nephew’s team at the local Y.

I like the heart and the hustle the last 5 minutes of the game. But that’s it. That’s the ONLY positive thing I can take from this game. We are a terrible basketball program, plain and simple. We play a downright ugly brand of basketball, and we have one, ONE, ACC caliber player on this team. That is nobody’s fault but Sidney Lowe’s. We don’t start playing until we’re down 12, and we turn the ball over 21 times.

I would like to know why Dennis Horner and Scott Wood cannot hit wide open jump shots.

I would like to know what this coaching staff sees in Julius Mays.

I would like to know why Vandenberg doesn’t see a second of floor time against the ACC’s most dominant front line.

I would like to know why Javier Gonzalez turns the ball over seven times, three times at the most crucial part of the game. And who can tell me why Degand didn’t play?

I would like to know why anybody can consider a 2-7 ACC record and last place standing in the conference anything close to acceptable.

I would like to know why anyone can consider Lowe’s 17-40 (.298) ACC record anything close to acceptable.
