^We are a young team and we aren’t that talented. With young/middle of the road talented teams there are going to be some bad games.

^That doesn’t explain coming out in a crucial first 5 minutes of the game and going 4-18 in FGs and why we inexplicably kept cold players in the game. This game was winnable after the 1st half. I agree that in the macroscale of the season we will have up and down games, but this one was 100% winnable. UMd may statistically look good, but I refuse to believe they played like all-stars (as the stats make it look right now) when you step back and see how UMd handled the ball and how poorly we chose our shots.

Maryland has played extremely well tonight. We’re probably fortunate that we did not play well because our best cannot beat Maryland’s best…they just have more talent than we do. This should get the team focused for UNC on Tuesday.

Wow. Sure didn’t take long for the Duke game to go from a significant building block on the season and tremendous step forward to merely a fluke. How do you follow up the biggest win of the season with the worst loss? I smell the usual February swoon coming on. Sigh.

^I thought that too, coach13. We seem to play well after losing disappointing losses. It’s also a home game, which will help.

The only thing that concerns me: the ACC tournament isn’t played in the RBC center. We have to win big on the road.

A loss is acceptable but 24 points is not. Keep the WPC resignation letters rolling

This is what we do……win big and loose even worse. 24 point loss really? Lowe should walk home from college park.

We should be an amusement park. 20 years of roller coaster seasons. We will beat UNC and loose worse to UVA. It’s what we do.

We are the definition of inconsistency. I don’t get this team. Why can’t we show some decent effort in back to back games? Agree with the above post that the Duke win is looking more like a fluke. This MD team is not 24 points better than the Pack.

Actually, we probably lose to UNC, then beat UVa…THAT’S what we do. Just when you’re ready to give up, they do something to pull you back in.

Oh well – this is by far the worst effort all season. If this only happens once, that’ll be fine.

Looked alot like the 2nd half against UVA

Farnold is a too out of control ,we played zero D.Howell needs to get in shape he shows signs but if kept out there too long. If Wood is not hitting his shot he is a liability on D . I can’t see Josh Davis getting minutes lately ?

davis came in today, he did alright. however he is a sure liability on offense. i like the kid, he’ll be a stud by his junior at the latest. degand is a little out of control, but lately he has improved our scoring potential greatly. his penetration is something we can count on each game. wood is going to have to learn, i’m sure and hope he stays in the starting lineup. but he’ll probably have to get other looks aside from three… possibly just outside the paint. and work his way out.

“…they just have more talent than we do.”

Not really. They are better at the two guard positions but we have better 3-5. What they have is one of the best coaches in the country. Plus they played a perfect game. But they played well because their game plan was superb and the players seemed to know their role. Our guys were hesitant and not decisive. This is a common trait of Lowe teams.
