DeMarcus: this, among other reasons, is why you should have picked NC State

Mr. Cousins, I know Kentucky is now 16-0 and you are playing on a legit contender for the National Championship with perhaps the best player in the country in John Wall, but look at it this way. If you had come to NC State, you wouldn’t have been in the lane yesterday to get absolutely posterized by Georgia’s Travis Leslie.

    Nice try.

Instead he would have gotten posterized from someone from Elon?

*Edit – I see what you did. My bad. I must have temporarily lost my sense of humor after the UVa loss.

  3. LKNpackfan 01/10/2010 at 7:16 PM #

^no, he would’ve been playing wing

  4. Wufpacker 01/10/2010 at 8:06 PM #

Somehow I think Mr. Cousins is perfectly happy with his choice. Yes, he was a step too slow sliding over to try and get the charge there, but I hardly think that qualifies as getting posterized.

I actually admire him for at least trying to get there rather than giving Leslie an uncontested path to the basket. He was, after all, the only defender back on that pass to mid-court, basically over the heads of the rest of his teammates, and was having to defend a 2 on 1.

“…but I hardly think that qualifies as getting posterized.”

Actually, I think that’s pretty much the definition of getting posterized.

What sane player, with any degree of talent, would choose NCSU over UK?

  7. D_Medlin 01/11/2010 at 12:20 AM #

It was a good try I thought, maybe not. Haha

anyone whos an honest person and see’s calipari for the snake in the grass he is! so glad he passed us up! despite our current situation.

  9. wolfpackbball 01/11/2010 at 6:45 AM #

    What tjfoose2 said.
    Wow.

  10. aPACKadeez 01/11/2010 at 8:21 AM #

I tend to agree. That’s pretty much the exact definition of getting posterized. However, I’m sure he would be getting alot more playing time, because our big men…are just big…they don’t play big at all. WTF

  11. ms termeaner 01/11/2010 at 8:39 AM #

If I want this garbage I would go to wolfpack hoops. If he went here he would be looking forward to another big Win against NCCU!

  12. Rick 01/11/2010 at 8:51 AM #

I would take 16-0 and on the cover of SI even if it took a posterization.
If he was here he could be whipped by UVa.

With our continued problems at PG, we should be more worried about the fact that we let the best player in the country (who happened to be from our hometown) go to an SEC school. If Wall had come, Cousins would have most likely followed. Not getting Wall shows exactly how far we have to go as a basketball program.

  14. coach13 01/11/2010 at 11:52 AM #

Yes…I would take the slimey Calipari at this point.

No, this program is not going anywhere. We are suspended by the basement floor, with no lateral or vertical movement.

  15. tjfoose2 01/11/2010 at 8:20 PM #

    Just thinking…

Even if we did “take the slimey Calipari”, I assume most of us here would agree he would’ve returned us to national relevance and probably quickly back to the Top 10. Yes?

So, that being the case, even if Cal later left in disgrace with us ’slimed’, at least we would have once again been relevant.

It would have proven to the nation, and the upcoming recruits, that we could again be a top 10 program, and w/ that ascendance back to the top, our history and ‘return to glory’ would have been played out and chronicled in various media forms, re-educating America to Wolfpack History, and introducing it for the first time to the younger generation.

Contrast that to Crisp getting laughed at and teased for picking NC State by his TOP RECRUIT peers at his recent all star game.

Without passing judgement myself, do you think it would’ve been worth it? Something to consider.

Having just read the responses re: post va.& the continuing complaints on Lowe I feel this loss is nothing more than the bad luck at the free throw line. The team hits a normal free throw % , game is won, & no one is harping about sub patterns, Lowe’s coaching or making a change.

I mean I thoroughly understand our groups frustration but if we really were that bad then we wouldn’t have been in both Az & Florida games.

We also beat every lower to mid level team we were supposed to beat.

There is no reason to panic & certainly no reason to give
writers & other media types a reason to start the “unreasonable State fans ready to fire Lowe” media blitz. They will certainly relish the opportunity to start the negative drumbeat as they are wont to do. Surely most of you know that many of them would love to discourage Leslie as much as the players in the highly recruited class are trying to encourage him to sign with State.

    Why give them anymore ammo?

I think we all take should deep breath & wait until we are closer to the end of the season before we panic.

  17. Wolfy__79 01/12/2010 at 12:11 AM #

there’s no panic here. sid has a great class coming and that is it for me. i still take sid over having herbs here anyday. he celebrates mediocrity! hmmm, lets have a seven foot power forward jack three’s from halfcourt and use his uncanny ability to attempt backdoor cuts. the only thing good we had with herb was freethrow %. yawl can go back to that if you like, most satelite/cable service covers that side of the country.

calapari was a mistake from the “getgo.” then lets follow with beilin or however you spell it. getn “slimed” by the lets rename him the clapp would ultimately ruin us. didn’t we almost get ruined by another slicker about twenty years ago. we’re just recovering from that. please lets not go back.

despite all the misfortunes we seek with our athletic program. we shall return to the top in men’s bball. NCSU is one of those special programs that can sustain success, the problem is getn back there. regardless whether its sid or not coaching at the time. his players will provide the intro that you have mentioned.

  18. Wolfy__79 01/12/2010 at 12:16 AM #

and when it happens, NCSU, the ALUMNI and/or the FANS won’t discredit him as did unc-ch with matt donuts… we’ll applaud him for it, and he will have contributed and perhaps have done exactly what he was trying to do all along. give him a break.

  19. Wufpacker 01/12/2010 at 9:49 PM #

Sorry, I guess I always thought the term “getting posterized” implied that the ” posterizee” was playing poor defense, especially with regard to being caught out of position, thus allowing the “posterizer” a relatively easier path to the hoop for what would, more often than not, result in a power slam dunk, often with said posterized defender receiving the ball on top of the head as it passed thru the hoop/net, a teabag to the face, or both.

From the responses here, I guess the part about playing poor defense being a prerequisite was my own misunderstanding. That being said, I still strongly suspect he’s perfectly happy with his choice.

And I’m just curious, but did someone just liken our bball program under Valvano to a program under Calipari?

  20. Wolfy__79 01/14/2010 at 10:38 PM #

    sure did!

  21. Wufpacker 01/15/2010 at 2:47 AM #

^ Sorry, but Valvano didn’t ruin us. We did that to ourselves, with the assistance of the powers-that-be within the greater UNC system, and of course the N&O.
