State Employee Sounds Off On Our Fans

Sure, it seems like a rather trivial detail to get flustered over (basketball jerseys). But as one State employee joked earlier this week, “Our fans always need something to gripe about and this is just the protest of the week. The psyche of our fans is unbelievable. I’ve long been of the belief that State fans are the only fans in the world who have figured out how to e-mail in crayon.”

The Crayon comment reminds me of applying for colleges…

I filled my UNC app. out in red crayon.

    Got in.

    Went to State.

The state employee who went off on us fans needs to realize that his enemies aren’t State fans. His real enemies are the bastards over on Jones Street in that legislative building, and I oughta know because I worked 34 years for North Carolina State Government.

Blast bureaucrats, not fans. Especially not STATE fans!

DBP I nearly fell out of my chair laughing about that.

Sounds like the quote comes from an environment that was started a number of years ago at State and has continued to fester and we strive to be “the worst”, not “the best”! Makes me absolutely sick that attitude exists on our campus.

As I said years ago on this site, “our university has been hijacked by a bunch of losers” and we need to kick their butts out as soon as possible. What’s taking so long?

Because the “losers” are in the position of power and we can’t do a damned thing about it. Because we continue to support the “losers” by flocking to the games in mass with wallets wide open ready to give, and give, and give.

If you were one of the “losers”, would you have any motivation to do anything different? I think not.

I read this post and it makes me laugh. Because our fan base has those types of fans. We have great fans, passionate fans. We have fans who are eternal optimists. We have practical fans. We have fans who groan and moan at every little thing that goes wrong. And we have fans that complain when things are going well because we must be getting ready to fail.

What bothers me is that many, instead of accepting each other, tend to turn on each other. If I am an optimist, let me not post on SFN. I will be attacked and insulted because I choose to think positively. And when something is printed that criticizes our fan base, we take it personally. It is ashamed that we can’t simply accept each other for who we are.
