Monday, Monday

There are quite a few very interesting topics to discuss in WolfpackNation this Monday morning, not the least of which is one of the big football commitments the Wolfpack landed after the Pitt game. Could a couple of other big ones be on the way?

Instead of re-hashing a lot of stuff in this entry, I request/suggest that you take a look at the topics that are current on our message boards by clicking here. The Forums have really been gaining activity, and many of the current conversations are exactly what I would spend time on in this entry this morning.

Remember, your regular SFN credentials log you in there for commenting. Considering that we have 4,423 registered users, we could/should be able to stay on top of key news on the boards as a community.

Lastly…don’t ignore our growing Twitter presence. We are also picking up the pace there with Tweets as opposed to just linking Twitter to the blog.

Not State related but interesting ACC tidbit. Gameday is the FSU at BC game this weekend. Why? Our old former friend, Eagle in Atlanta, has some ideas at:

    This is nice work here:

    Marc (Charlotte)

Heather, talk to me about John Shoop. Doesn’t he have to open up the offensive playbook in an attempt to take some of the pressure off of the Carolina D?
    Heather Dinich
    (12:40 PM)

The Carolina D has to get itself off the field before he can.

^^^ “The Carolina D has to get itself off the field before he can.”

They generally do, though. The offense not STAYING on the field is the biggest reason (IMO) that the defense was on the field so long against GT.

I liked this comment from Heather D. But I’m not sure it’s on target.

Dinich seems pretty much sold on the Pack, sure. But as soon as she changes her mind, Pack fans will be calling her an idiot. It’s really amusing to read…

    No they don’t

GT had drives of 9, 6, 9, 3, 5, 7 plays in the first half and
14, 3, 8, 17 play drives in the second half.
Two of the second-half drives lasted for more than 8 minutes each.

I’m no big fan of HD, but she was right on this one point.

Meanwhile, the Pack now has the #1-ranked defense in the country in yards allowed per game.

    Thank you, FCS!

    ^^^ “GT had drives of 9, 6, 9, 3, 5, 7 plays in the first half and
14, 3, 8, 17 play drives in the second half.”

In that list, I see GT drives of 3, 3, 5, 6 and 7 plays (and three other drives of 8, 9 and 9). A nine play drive can possibly be just two first downs, depending on the plays. But half of their drives were 7 plays or less. I call that getting the “D” off the field pretty well.

Granted, four of their drives ended in scores, so that’s not exactly Carolina’s “D” getting themselves off the field. 😉

I stand by my assertion that Carolina’s D generally gets itself off the field pretty well. Against Tech, their offense kept putting them back on the field quickly, and wore them out. I think that contributed to Tech’s more lengthy drives in the second half.

I hate Carolina as much as any good ABC’er, but their defense isn’t their problem.
