ACCSports.com interviews Alpha Wolf & other Thursday links

A couple of quick links to start today (only two more weeks!!!):

For a week at least, Joe Ovies and Jim Young have decided to take the ACCSports.com Podcast Presented By FanDemon.com in a different direction.

This week, they invite in the ACC’s bloggerati, or they embark on an ACC blogapalooza tour – take your pick.

First Joe and Jim talk to Willy Mac, one of the co-conspirators behind the Clemson blog Block C. The topic du jour? Why the Tigers’ recently resolved quarterback race, of course.

Next up is Alpha Wolf, one of several contributors to State Fans Nation. He talked to Joe and Jim about N.C. State’s thin secondary and why so many polls have the Wolfpack ranked behind UNC.

Additionally from www.accsports.com, Wolfpacker Insider: 4 Questions:

3. What about South Carolina?

…This year, the schedule could set up nicely — if the Pack can beat South Carolina at home in the Sept. 3 opener. The next two contests should be easy wins at home, against Murray State and Gardner-Webb. Then Pittsburgh comes to town Sept. 26. If State can get past USC and start the year 3-0, the Wolfpack will have a lot of momentum to carry into the matchup with a Pitt team that most preseason prognosticators have ranked below the Pack nationally.

Then the Pack starts ACC action, with a game at Wake Forest and a visit from Duke. State has five of its first six games at home, and it’s not unreasonable to think the team could start 6-0. Of course, that has to start with winning the opener against the Gamecocks.

Maryland boosters raise $46k for football team to take charter flights:

Maryland football supporters have raised about $46,000 so the Terps can fly round trip to games at Wake Forest and North Carolina State instead of taking the bus one way.

“It’s nice knowing there is the possibility of making a difference,” said Larry Grabenstein, chairman of the Maryland Gridiron Network, a booster group that raises money for special football projects. “Many universities are experiencing these types of fiscal pressures for the first time in a while, and it’s because of the nature of the recession.”

Pack basketball target to pick Maryland:

It’s a great day to be a Terp. Keith Cavanaugh and terrapintimes.com reported tonite at 11:04 PM that Mychal Parker a major target of Maryland’s coaching staff will announce his intention to attend the University of Maryland sometime Thursday and join the 2010 recruiting class. If this is true, this will certainly put the Terrapins’ 2010 class way up on the charts. If the final piece of the puzzle Terrence Jones is landed, this could easily be a top 5 class. The coaching staff pursued the 6-6 190 lb Parker as much as possible and hopefully the persistence has paid off!!!!!

The Memphis fiasco was expected IMO.

The Memphis ordeal just reminds me how happy am that Cali used us for more money and didn’t take the job. Doesn’t mean I am happy with the current situation but it’s better than having Cali.

How many chances does this guy get. UMASS, Memphis working on KY now. Looks like cheating & paying players actually is a good thing…..Seems to have brought Cali to the biggest name in college basketball, KY.

    I side tracked, sorry.

    @ eas

I agree completely. To take it even further, I would rather do without the players that go along with these deals. As soon as I read about Wall’s handlers I wrote him off. They were after much bigger things than State could offer.

The KY spin machine is gearing up, the fans are already posting their rationalizations.

Wow, this thread has been up for almost a full day and not a single “atta boy” for Alpha Wolf.

    WTG Alpha Wolf…awesome as usual!
