2009-2010 Men’s Basketball Schedule

NC State’s 2009-10 men’s basketball schedule has been released by the ACC.  The Pack has a rare pre-Christmas conference game against Wake Forest, and then dives back into its out-of-conference slate until January 9.  State will also play UNC Greensboro in a road game this season. More commentary will be coming shortly.

Home games are bolded in red.

Actually the three games on November 20-22, which are shaded in red, are not home games. We get the have our asses handed to us on national TV when we go to Chapel Hill. YAY!!!!

    Alpha: Thanks, that’s fixed.

Hopefully some of these games that dont’ have TV will get it.

  3. Alpha Wolf 08/25/2009 at 3:43 PM #

I would expect that they will be picked up as time goes on, Chop. And hopefully not by ESPNU or even worse, ESPN 360.

Lovely write up on WRAL about the ACC schedule… http://www.wralsportsfan.com/college_basketball/story/5864844/

“Duke is at North Carolina on Wednesday, Feb. 10, and the Tar Heels at are the Blue Devils on Saturday, March 6, the ACC announced on Tuesday in releasing its men’s basketball schedule.

The UNC at Duke game is not the final game of the regular season, with two games scheduled for Sunday, March 7. Boston College is at N.C. State at 2 p.m. and Clemson is at Wake Forest at 6 p.m. on the final day of the regular season.

The ACC Tournament is March 11-14 in Greensboro.”

Without thinking too hard about it, 16-15 (5-11) looks about right.

^ In other words, hope for an early spring in order to get and play more golf.

Two ACC games not televised, up from 1 last year (the Wake game didn’t get picked up in 2008-09, I don’t expect either VT game to be, either – they are in the 7:00 Wednesday slot, which is when the no-TV games usually are). Looks like ESPN-U has already picked, I wouldn’t expect extra TV except for maybe Arizona.

What jumps out at me is the very possible 1-6 start to ACC play. We should beat UVA at home, but the first three road games are tough sledding (Wake, FSU, MD), and the first three home games are our three worst matchups (Clemson, Duke, UNC).

You clearly didn’t get that schedule from GoPack, since the geniuses over there left off the Jan 26th game against Carolina.

  9. Alpha Wolf 08/25/2009 at 4:13 PM #

LRM, nope, not there. And you might notice ours is a little more legible than theirs. They are incredibly fine web-coders over at that site.

Looking at our basketball schedule every year is a bit like reading the obituaries.

Here’s hoping our freshmen play great and our point guards are much improved. Who knows, it could happen!

Games against Arizona and Florida seem to be nice additions and step in the right direction for improving SOS. Not sure why we have NCCU on the schedule, unless there’s some pressure from someone in the state government to through NCCU a bone, because they are an SOS, RPI killer with their 300+ RPI ranking the last few years.

Damn I had managed to forget we had a basketball team 😉

We open with Sid’s alma mater on November 5. Should be a very emotional day.

Ugg. Great time to spread our wings with road trips….

  15. LRM 08/25/2009 at 5:14 PM #

    Alpha,
If you have a laptop and use a touchpad, then Herb Sendek has a better shot at a national title than you do of navigating away from the main page at GoPack.

  16. packpowerfan 08/25/2009 at 5:29 PM #

BJD, I’ll be more emotional if we pull a 2007 @ New Orleans. Hopefully Sid’s allegiance doesn’t waver…

What, no ECU? Did Fowler finally get the figure out they aren’t in the ACC?

  18. 61Packer 08/25/2009 at 6:27 PM #

After digesting this schedule, I think our basketball team will win about as many games as our football team will win this season. On a negative note for basketball, I see more conference wins in football than in basketball, but on a positive note I do see us extending our streak in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge to two in a row in 2010. That should be enough to bring Sid back for year five.

It might ease the pain of a looming bball season to know that our O-Line will have it a little easier after one of SC’s starting D-Lineman is out after being injured and charged after a nightclub brawl.

    once again…latest starts (9PM) are middle-of-the-week.

  21. highstick 08/25/2009 at 9:22 PM #

We just ought to go back and start playing the NC School for the Blind and the Cherry Point Air Station.

  22. packpowerfan 08/25/2009 at 10:16 PM #

    I second that motion.

With the exception of Florida, this might be the most UN-awe-inspiring OOC home slate I can remember. Heck, even WITH Florida. And that’s saying something considering some of the Home OOC schedules under the previous regime.

When the Coaches vs Cancer tournament would be an improvement, then its getting pretty bad.

  24. Daily Update 08/26/2009 at 8:19 AM #

    Likely OOC losses:
    Marquette, Arizona, Florida

    Tossups OOC:
    Northwestern, Auburn

I don’t see us winning but a few games in the conference either.

  25. wolfbuff 08/26/2009 at 8:32 AM #

While the NCCU game is not awe-inspiring, I like it and think it is strategically well-placed. We will have just come off our first 6 ACC games. We may be looking at a 6 game losing streak and need a game like that to get our confidence back for the home stretch. Or best case, the starters need a rest and this game affordsd Sid a chance to give the second stringers some playing time (assuming he has his rotation set by then).
