Just some quick summer football notes related to some former Wolfpackers that may be of interest to you.
First, you can click here if there are some particular NFL franchises that may require some brushing up.
One item I learned from surfing some links is that NC State’s Pat Thomas has been signed by the Buffalo Bills and is currently second on the depth chart at linebacker. You probably remember that John McCargo is still in Buffalo and hopes to shake off some of the injuries this year that have played a role in his inconsistent career in the past.
Another item out there is this nice tidbit focused on Brian Clark out of Tampa.
“Now, we aren’t playing tackle yet, and sometimes things change when we do,’’ Mann said. “But the guy that has really caught my eye, the guy that has really looked good to me, is Brian Clark.
“I’m thinking now that we probably should have looked at him a lot more in the past. Maybe that was a coaching error on my part. What I’ve seen of him on the practice field in shorts, he looks like an excellent candidate to play there.’’
By “there’’, Mann meant the slot, the position that Ike Hilliard filled so adequately before he was let go as part of the veteran purge earlier in the offseason.
Mann said he believes Stroughter can play the slot, too, and he knows Michael Clayton and Maurice Stovall can play there. He really seems excited, though, about the possibility of Clark working there.
I continue to be very excited about Andre Brown’s presence with the New York Giants.
On Saturday, May 16, the L.A. Memorial Coliseum was visited by this years top NFL draft picks for the annual Reebok NFL Players Rookie Premiere Upper Deck Photo Shoot. Thirty-four of the most sought-after rookies took their first steps into being a part of trading card history. They took the field for the first time wearing their new NFL jerseys. They looked like NFL players, but did they have all the right moves? Upper Deck offered up a great prize for the rookie with the best touchdown dance. Check out to see how they did.
