It will probably take a while to process all of this week’s activity once all of the chips fall (Gerald Henderson?)…but, we didn’t want to ignore all of the recent developments that will have a huge impact on the ACC/College Basketball landscape next season. (By the way, we already began discussing next year’s college basketball roster in this great entry that you shouldn’t miss.)
Before today day really got started the N&O provided us an update on these hoops transactions and as the day has evolved Maryland’s program may have taken another hit as Greivis Vasquez announced he will enter his name into the NBA Draft but will not sign with an agent.
Just down the road the Tar heels lost Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington (one year too late!) By the way…am I the only person who remembers this stink from last year that happened shortly after Lawson encountered legal issues related to drinking and driving?
Without Lawson and Ellington — plus seniors Tyler Hansbrough and Danny Green — UNC starts over next season without its top four scorers.
Williams managed a similar roster overhaul, after winning the 2005 title and losing four first-round picks, by winning 12 ACC games. The two recruiting classes after the ’05 title were the foundation for this year’s title team.
The Heels appear to be in a similar reloading mode with four new McDonald’s All-Americans poised to join the program.
It will be interesting to see how all of these changes impact the projections for next season.
Of other regional interest is Davidson’s Stephon Curry heading to the NBA.
