After an epic back-and-forth NFC title game (with a controversial finish – fairly blatant PI not called on Eagles’ 4th down attempt), Adrian Wilson‘s Arizona Cardinals are headed to the Super Bowl. Wilson is the first man interviewed after the game, and hopefully one of our technically proficient bloggers can embed video of the touching scene soon.

We do a pretty decent job of following the career of Wilson, so you can view some of our previous Adrian Wilson entries by clicking here.

In addition to Wilson, former Wolfpack offensive lineman Steve Keim is the Director of Player Personnel for the Arizona Cardinals. Considering where the Cardinals were compared to where they have come under Keim, it is pretty obvious that Keim is turning some heads in the league.

    Wasn’t is Cris Collinsowrth who announced on Inside the NFL that the Cardinals are the worst team to every make the playoffs in the history o f the NFL? Eat crow there shitface…

    I’m no Cardinals fan, but I can appreciate what they have accomplished and am thrilled for Wilson. I just hate how the media tell us whose good, whose not, and then when they are proven wrong two weeks in a row, they still don’t learn.

    The Cardinals are living proof that anybody can get it done with the right mix of players. Congratulations to them.

    If the Ravens can somehow beat the Steelers, I will predict the Cards will be Super Bowl Champs. If the Steelers win, which is what I am hoping for, well then you couldn’t have a more crazy match-up. This is why the NFL is the best game in the land…

    Yep, you are watching why the NFL is the undisputed king of the sports world. Steelers/Ravens will be a very different kind of game, but hopefully as well-played as the matinee offering.

    I’m not sure Larry Fitzgerald is even human. He was just sick today.

    Fitzgerald is awesome. And Warner is a HOF QB.

    But the Bidwells are everything that the NFL isn’t. They’re cheap, stupid, and have hitched a ride on the greatness of the league.

    As a coach,I’ve watch and coached football 35yrs-Three of the most
    unbelievible hits I have ever seen-one in college,two in the Pro’s
    A absolute freek of a athlete and football player.

    Wow. What a wretched call by the refs. Santonio Holmes (former NCSU recruit) makes the catch, takes two steps and when diving for the goalline, the ground jars the ball loose. He had the ball and took TWO steps with it.

    Sweet Jesus, I hate instant replay.

    BTW, if you’re looking for ANY State connections to this game…Adam Terry is playing for the Ravens.

    Terry was one of two OL recruits that Robbie Caldwell and MOC were set to bring in in 1999. When they got fired, both went to Syracuse. Terry had a very nice career for the Orange and is now with the Ravens.

    Shaky…but, there ya go.

    Definitely going for the Cards … I’m still dismayed that the Phillies won the World Series … Boo all Philly teams, and that definitely includes the “Big 5” college teams – especially Villanova

    No real rooting interest in the playoffs this year, but that AZ/Philly game was great. Maybe the Ravens will take out the Steelers. The PK played at State.

    The heck with the Bidwells, I feel good for the Arizona fans. Seems like I always root for long-suffering teams like the Braves before 1991, NC State, the Hurricanes hockey organ-EYE-zation, etc. When those guys break through and go all the way to the title, it’s really special because they really beat the odds. In two weeks, the Cards fans get their chance to taste the title. That counts for something.

    And that makes me like Arizona in the Super Bowl because no one ever takes their team seriously. They’ve been picked against three straight playoff games and all they’ve done is kick a__ and take names. They deserve respect, but don’t get any until lately.

    Reminds me of a certain team in Raleigh that’s also a Rodney Dangerfield in the sports world. All the better that Adrian Wilson is playing for them and still wearing red and white.

    A bit offtopic, but one of my buddies would argue with you until he was blue in the face or dead stone drunk (whichever came first) that the Premiership is the king o’ the sports world. I have to admit they take their soccer interest in England to a really serious level, but I would have to agree with you that the NFL is the best run league on the planet.

    Arizona – Pittsburgh. That could be a pretty good game.

    On one hand you have a hot team in unexpectedly uncharted territory, and you have to feel good for their fans.

    On the other, you have a team playing for their sixth Lombardi Trophy, which would make them the winningest of all franchises in the Super Bowl.

    Alpha, in fairness, the EPL is by far the world-wide leader in sports. EPL is the most watched, makes the most money, and has most of the biggest name players (Kaka, Messi, and a certain buck-toothed dude named Ronaldinho) in the world.

    What the NFL has going for it is exclusivity — the maximum number of a games any team will play is 20… far less than in any other sport (college football aside). The NFL squeezes into four months what the EPL does in about nine, so kudos to the NFL.

    Also Alpha, are you a homebrewer?

    Why isn’t helmet to helmet contact a penalty at anytime?

    Why don’t helmets have a soft outer shell? Like the SF 49’s player wore in the late 80’s. No reason for a knee to the helmet or a head in the turf should cause a concussion.

    How is it that a player can touch a punter and get a 15 yard penalty but a defensive back can go head first into a receiver with no penalty?

    Shouldn’t face mask be able to be pulled off like a ski from a ski boot to protect player’s neck?

    Props to AW. He had a strong game, and it was good to see him get the post game interview–he deserves some media attention. As much as he’ll get notoriety for the 2 sacks a forced fumble, the biggest play might have been his leg tackle of that Philly WR in the 2nd half… if he whiffs there, the guy gets another 30 yds. He’s not always the surest tackler, but he wrapped him up on that play.

    Brutal hit on McGahee… that’s probably AT LEAST a grade 3 concussion plus a severe neck sprain with nerve damage. BTW, how can Phil Simms argue that was a legal hit while at the same time agreeing that it was helmet-to-helmet? Yeah, McGahee lowered his head a bit, but I don’t see how a full-speed direct hit to the head doesn’t draw a big fine here. I just don’t see how they can let that one go unpunished.

    Yes, I have been brewing beer since about 1980 or thereabouts. Back in the day, American Brewmaster (the Raleigh homebrew store) was over at the Fairgrounds and one Saturday when I was at the flea market and was convinced that brewing five gallons of brew for only $10 was the best idea I had since I figured out how to talk a woman into getting naked. That was 2.5 cases of cole-beer, or about one Friday night’s worth.

    Long story short, my first two tries were utter disasters. I was smarter than the instructions and stuff like cleaning our kitchen was too much work. I threw those batches away. Bottle bombs that tasted like a rear end smells.

    Then I decided to follow the recipe and procedures to the letter, made some pretty decent swill and have been brewing my own ever since….and have gotten a lot better at it. Nowadays I think my beer’s better than almost anything you can buy because it is fresher and has no chemicals in it. Homebrewers know what I am talking about.

    Man, it’s hard to believe that was over 25 years ago and when Sidney Lowe was a freshman and before his team was known as the Cardiac Pack.

    Speaking of brew, does anybody remember the name of that drug store near the bowling alley that you could buy beer at 7:00 in the morning? Saved my ass many a day.

    Alpha- do you have any brew kit recommendations for a first time brewer?

    Regarding AW, his hit in the UNC game is the best hit I have ever seen. I’m very happy for him. Didn’t we used to have more players on the Cardinals?
