A Pack commit squared off Saturday against a player NC State would love to get…
Lorenzo Brown scored 19 points and dished out eight assists but Centennial fell to No. 16 South Atlanta 88-77 Saturday at the Elite 8 Thanksgiving Hardwood Classic. In that game, undecided player Derrick Favors scored 29 points, nabbed 12 rebounds and blocked four shots, had four steals and three assists for South Atlanta.

“[Brown] scored 19 impressive and aggressive points and dished out eight assists in the defeat. Brown played with great intensity from tip to the final buzzer and did everything that he could possibly do in order to put his team into position to win a tough game.”
Regarding Favors, the same article said:
“After helping his South Atlanta team win it’s first game of the season, Derrick Favors stood outside the back door of the Georgia State Sports Arena on a rainy Saturday night handing out hugs to female schoolmates and getting pats on the back from friends and families.
“Favors was smiling in large part to his 29 point, 12 rebound, four block, four steals and three assist effort in South Atlanta’s 88-77 win over Centennial.
“There were no questions from strangers asking him where he is going to college. There were no over eager super fans begging and pleading with him to choose their school. There were no coaches waiting for him outside of the locker room.
“It’s nice, not having to worry about any of [the recruiting pressure],” Favors said after the game. “There are no worries. I can just play ball. I can just hear the ball bounce. I can just be me.”
Sometimes it is easy to forget that these blue-chip recruits are just kids, kids who’d probably rather play hoops and do what other teenagers do as opposed to answer non-stop questions from reporters, coaches and fans alike about what their future plans are. Keep that in mind if you ever run into a non-committed top recruit.
On the John Wall front, Adam Zagoria posted this on his web site today:
“Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski checked out John Wall, the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2009 according to Rivals, on Friday night, according to Dave Telep of Scout. N.C. State coach Sidney Lowe was also in attendance for every game of the Word of God Invitational at which Wall was named MVP. Word of God outscored its two opponents by 63 points in the event.”
One seems to be a certainty: if Wall goes anywhere other than NC State, it won’t be because Sidney Lowe didn’t try hard enough to bring Walls to Raleigh.
