There might be trouble on the Pirate ship, as it looks like there’s some substance behind the rumors that head coach Skip Holtz might be ready to jump overboard for a BCS conference coaching gig:
WSYR (Syracuse, NY): Holtz to SU Rumors Continue To Swirl
It looks like East Carolina head football coach Skip Holtz may be the top target to replace Greg Robinson at Syracuse.
Holtz will be in New York on Sunday to celebrate the induction of his father, Lou Holtz, into the National Football Foundation’s College Hall of Fame.
SU athletic director Daryl Gross is expected to be there as well.
If this comes to pass, expect the Big Four schools to take a long hard look at the Pirate commit list to see if there’s anyone they might want to poach in the inevitable confusion of a coaching search down east. I’d especially expect Carolina to try to make a run and get their 30-35th commitments for the year.
