Boxscore |

Quick thoughts:

-N&O: Pack routs Heels, 41-10
-ESPN Video: N.C. State Pins Upset On No. 22 North Carolina
N&O Photo Gallery
-TOB 2, BMFD 0
-UNC: Was that last TD by State really necessary?
-A Dick Sheridan style UNC ass whipping
-ACC Records: NC State 3-4, UNC 3-4
-Total yard NC State 470, UNC 196
-Turnovers: UNC 6, NC State 0
-Wilson: 17-28, 279 Yards, 2 TD’s

Just say it over and over again. 41-10.

The game was not as close as the score indicated. This would really hurt poor Butchie, if it wasn’t “just another game” for him.

This was our Super Bowl today. This might be the last moment of glory until next September, but the smile ain’t leaving my face.

packalum44, please allow me to explain what I was saying ONE MORE TIME.

“I will give TOB much more credit b/c he is a much more talented coach and spots talent at ALL positions.”

Yes, I totally agree with your statement. But only because of what TOB was able to do at BC. I think maybe you, as well as others, are misunderstanding, I am NOT EVEN trying to compare TOB’s to CA’s coaching/recruiting/program building abilities, or anything like that. TOB has NOT had time to develop a track record involving personnel at NCSU, not just yet anyway. No doubt that TOB is doing a fantastic job, but that doesn’t eliminate the fact that the large majority of these players right now, not just those on the DL, or not just the LB’s as you say, but the OL, the RB’s, the QB’s, and right on the line, those same players who weren’t considered to be talented enough earlier in the season, are still mainly Chuck Amato’s recruits.

Just saying. And the reason I am, is that I do not like to hear people continue to beat up on an ALUM who came here with his heart in the right place, who tried, and did accomplish much in areas, and did it for all of the RIGHT reasons, but who just couldn’t get over the hump, for whatever the reason. It’s not like Chuck “Charlie Brown” Amato deserves to be continually raked over the coals because he left us with something that wouldn’t work at all, it’s just that what he left us with, was something that “just needed a little love, that’s all”.

“Does anyone else get the impression that RW’s development if far, far beyond what the coaches expected? I always assumed he was going to be the placeholder until Glennon was ready. But there is going to be a real battle next fall for the starting gig.”

I definitely agree with the above statement as far as RW being way ahead of schedule with regard to his development. I believe the coaches saw potential in RW, but I seriously doubt they expected his performance to be what it has been, considering that he is being mentioned for not only ROY but also All-ACC 1st team and even POY. How can you expect that from even the most talented frosh?

As far as his future (and therefore Glennon’s as well), unless RW decides to leave early for MLB reasons, or God-forbid is injured, I suspect that Glennon will have a very difficult time unseating him as the starter. RW is now a known commodity…that is we now know that he brings a great deal of upside, very little downside, and has proven himself to be very talented and extremely poised in a game situation. Because of that it will be next to impossible to take the starting job from him.

While I hope it does not happen it certainly wouldn’t be terribly surprising to see Glennon transfer. If he does stick it out at NCSU (which I certainly hope he does…having two QB’s of that caliber is certainly a good problem to have) he might not see significant playing time before his senior season. Again, that is assuming that RW stays for all 4 yrs of eligibility.

The major differences I see between Amato’s teams and what we’ve witnessed so far under TOB is 1) our guys are clearly all business (I saw very little over the top celebrating or nonsense) and 2) our team appears to be steadily improving as far as fundamentals go.

I understand what you’re saying about letting Amato have a break from the criticism. However, the two things above are extremely refreshing changes in my opinion and they’re exactly why Amato struggled to consistently and steadily build a structurely sound program.

Somebody please remind me to NEVER bring up the name Chuck Amato ever again, I am getting beat over the head with it.

Let’s see, who is it that I am reponding to this time? Oh yeah, GAwolf. GA, you are speaking of noticing new qualities in these players. Those qualities are noticeable because their new coach requires them to behave that way.

I, on the other hand, was ONLY saying that regardless of how they behave, play football, or anything else, that there IS talent on this roster. Admittedly, it’s not deep, but there is some definite talent. Early in the year some people on this site were plainly stating that there wasn’t much talent on the team.

Again, that is ALL that I have been saying, and saying, and saying.

We have got to do somethign about Spencer. He has cost us 5 touchdowns in the past 2 games. 4 drops and the offsides. Guy has hands of stone.

Other than that it was an insanely great game. When they cut the score to 10-17 and Spencer had one of his patented drops I thought we would fold. We had dominated the game but were only up 7 points. We could easliy have folderd but did not.
