Route 40+1 Runs Through Chapel Hill (NC State 41, UNC 10)

Boxscore |

Quick thoughts:

-N&O: Pack routs Heels, 41-10
-ESPN Video: N.C. State Pins Upset On No. 22 North Carolina
N&O Photo Gallery
-TOB 2, BMFD 0
-UNC: Was that last TD by State really necessary?
-A Dick Sheridan style UNC ass whipping
-ACC Records: NC State 3-4, UNC 3-4
-Total yard NC State 470, UNC 196
-Turnovers: UNC 6, NC State 0
-Wilson: 17-28, 279 Yards, 2 TD’s

Just say it over and over again. 41-10.

The game was not as close as the score indicated. This would really hurt poor Butchie, if it wasn’t “just another game” for him.

This was our Super Bowl today. This might be the last moment of glory until next September, but the smile ain’t leaving my face.

Man, that was the most fun I’ve EVER had at the State-UNx game. That was the loudest Kenan has ever been, thanks to the red-and-white rowdies!

I’ve been saying all year this was gonna be different team in November, but I didn’t expect them to waltz in between the daunting pine trees and beat the brakes off the Accursed!! The fellas ran through ’em like wheat bread.

The giant is still sleeping, ‘cuz he got knocked the eff out!

  2. RagingWolf 11/22/2008 at 3:57 PM #

Is it now mathematically impossible for UNX to win their division? If not, does anyone know what needs to happen for them to win? I need to know what to root against.

IF YES, HOW SWEET IS IT THAT WE SLAMMED THE DOOR ON THEM!

This win isn’t surprising if you look at our respective schedules and the NC State injuries. I said two weeks ago in some Butch to UT thread that UNC could well lose their last three and State win their last three, and that VT looked like the best team in the Coastal. I’m not saying that to toot my own horn, but just to say that this is not surprising.

Tom O’Brien on the radio: “We are the best program in the State of North Carolina.”

Oh, and there’s nothing more fun than to have a big lead and run it down their throats. Bible set up some smart plays; obviously they could not stop that sweep around to the outside in either direction. He ate them alive. God, that was fun. Good to see for Eugene and Brown.

Oh, AND how awesome was it to hear the WOLF … PACK … WOLF … PACK cheer resonating at Kenan once again?

The Holes are out. GT is 5-3 and in the clubhouse.

    Better gameday coach. Better QB.

    Ragingwolf,
UNC is out of it, as are Virginia and Miami. In the coastal, it’s down to Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. Miami could tie for the coastal, but they lose the tiebreaker to Georgia Tech (since they got beat by them), and they lose the three-way tie with GT and VT (because VT would have the best division record at 4-1).

i hope miami being out of it helps us next week as well, since TOB and RW will have our team focused regardless.

I can’t find any schedules before 2002 but nobody has beat all the other NC teams from 2002 onward, Carolina came close in 2004 beating us and wake and duke, but no ecu.

    Seex! Seex! Seex turnovers! Ah-ah-ah!

indeed, we ARE the best in the state!!

All 4–three of whom were ranked!

Down goes Davis! Down goes Davis! In the battle of Tom and Butch, Butch Slapped, but Tom Punched, and in the end, Butchie got PACK SMACKED!!!

That was soooo much fun! I haven’t seen so many Smurfs with Stunned looks on their faces since Gargamel tried to boil Papa Smurf. I bet ole Papa Smurf is boiling about now!

  12. Cosmo96 11/22/2008 at 4:18 PM #

Someone please tell me that the game next week is a night game. That atmosphere would be electric.

We made fans of God’s chosen institution boo their own team … soooooo sweet!

I do hate the Holes, but they should not have booed Yates the way they did … It was sweet to hear them boo, but booing Yates was extremely unclassy … The kid hasn’t played in six weeks or so and the biggest cheer their fans can muster is when Yates is benched in favor of Sexton … They can use the excuse of booing Chief for not putting in Sexton earlier, but that wasn’t the case at all … Imagine that, people who invented the Carowhiner blue sky booing their own … go figure …

    CLASS ALL THE WAY

  14. packpigskinfan23 11/22/2008 at 4:20 PM #

I bet the media RIPS UNC fans a new one for booing today…

    hahahahahahaha. I crack myself up!

GREAT game today! ONE MORE TO GO! =)

  15. ChiefJoJo 11/22/2008 at 4:21 PM #

Sweet victory and it definitely could have been worse. How many drops again today? Anyway, I always really liked the character of this team, and it showed through today. Very proud of our guys!

I tell you what, if I were another team, I would want to play us right now. State champs, now beat Miami!

“We’re the best football program in the state,” O’Brien said. “Without question. We are the state university and we expect to be here.”

Noah, I DVR’ed it my good man, and I plan to dub it tmw with the coaches show on the backend. Email me [email protected] Monday and I’ll get a copy out to you.

About Butch Davis being compared to CTC…I don’t recall CTC getting beat 41-10 by anyone, especially not our primary rival. Of course, I could have a selective memory here. As bad as the CTC years were, we always seemed to be, at least, somewhat competitive. They (UNC) hardly even put a product on the field today.

BDJ95, I recorded the game to DVR in Hi-Def but I have never taken the trouble to figure out how to export video off of a DVR. If you have a quick how-to, I will be glad to hook you up. I have both Macs and PCs here at the house so tips on either will work. You can get up with me at [email protected]

Beat Miami next week and we’ll be 3-0 against the Coastal. Which division is tougher???

    OOC Schedule:
    NC State : @USC, W&M, USF(ranked), ECU(ranked)
GT: Jacksonville St., Miss. St., Gardner-Webb, @UGA(ranked)

2 IAA teams?? Come on now Paul.

    SOS as of 11/15:
    NCSU = 9
    GT = 54

We beat Miami and GT loses to UGA then I think you can make a great case for COY for TOB.

  20. tvp1 11/22/2008 at 4:34 PM #

We didn’t attempt a pass in the 4th Quarter. We had 92 yards rushing that quarter, without even trying to throw.

    UNC quit.

    God, I love it.

Cosmo – last I saw the State/Miami game was going to be either at noon or 3:30. With Miami out of the picture for the Coastal we’ll probably end up at noon. Just a guess.

  22. Packster 11/22/2008 at 4:39 PM #

When I talked to my UNC grad brother yesterday….he was quick to say “I think we have you this year without a problem”. It was sweet to pummel them the way we did today. It has been a long time….but sweetest of all….on TV it sounded like we had the home field advantage. Especially at the end with the “WOLF” “PACK” cheer.

  23. MrPlywood 11/22/2008 at 4:40 PM #

I’ll help seed a torrent if someone will post it…

  24. b 11/22/2008 at 4:40 PM #

    Noon seems likely.

If BC beats Wake and Md beats FSU it will be BC-MD @ 3:30. if not likely VT-UVA. Unlesss of course Duke pulls a shocker…..

What is great to think though is the famed battle for that stupid bell will not be on TV. Heh Heh.

  25. newt 11/22/2008 at 4:47 PM #

I think Tudor got that quote independently of Haynes’ radio interview, meaning TOB repeated more that once that we are the best program in the state.

Probably hoping that comment gets out for recruiting purposes.

BTW – We are in fact the best program in the state.
