Route 40+1 Runs Through Chapel Hill (NC State 41, UNC 10)

Boxscore |

Quick thoughts:

-N&O: Pack routs Heels, 41-10
-ESPN Video: N.C. State Pins Upset On No. 22 North Carolina
N&O Photo Gallery
-TOB 2, BMFD 0
-UNC: Was that last TD by State really necessary?
-A Dick Sheridan style UNC ass whipping
-ACC Records: NC State 3-4, UNC 3-4
-Total yard NC State 470, UNC 196
-Turnovers: UNC 6, NC State 0
-Wilson: 17-28, 279 Yards, 2 TD’s

Just say it over and over again. 41-10.

The game was not as close as the score indicated. This would really hurt poor Butchie, if it wasn’t “just another game” for him.

This was our Super Bowl today. This might be the last moment of glory until next September, but the smile ain’t leaving my face.

First to post! And can’t think of anything to say, but I’m damned proud of this football team!

  2. ChemPack82 11/22/2008 at 3:20 PM #

    Ass whipping!!!

It just doesn’t get any better than this!!!!

Not your Rival – Just your daddy!

  4. Lunatic Fringe 11/22/2008 at 3:23 PM #

It was just another game…errrr…loss for Butchie.

  5. SaccoV 11/22/2008 at 3:25 PM #

Excellent game from a very good team. Boy, wouldn’t you like to have that South Carolina game next week instead? Either way, 4-4 in conference and bowl eligible are wonderful achievements given this season’s start. I’m so proud of the team and the coaching staff. This means great things for next year and beyond. Now, it’s time for the basketball team to take care of business tonight at Reynolds.

Russell Wilson over 325 total yards of offense. If he is not POY it will purely highway robbery

  8. MatSci94 11/22/2008 at 3:32 PM #

Does Butch Davis’ coaching remind anyone else of Chuck?

  9. BJD95 11/22/2008 at 3:32 PM #

Russell Wilson won conference POY today.

Win next week, and Tom O’Brien wins conference COY.

But 41-10 is enough to keep me sky high until football kicks off next September.

No conference title for Butchie (hell, he’s got the same damned ACC record as us).

Will the Peach Bowl give us a look at 4-4?

  10. SaccoV 11/22/2008 at 3:37 PM #

I agree slightly with the Amato comparison; however, Butch won’t run off coordinator after coordinator like Chuck did. Chuck might still be here if he didn’t invoke the revolving-door policy with assistants, many of whom were highly skilled and proven. Thanks Mr. Admin for the deletions. Also, we might want to keep the Upset Alert on full as Gardner-Webb is looking to knock off Oklahoma at home in bball!!! Boy, that coach has to be in line for a great job next year.

What a beatdown! Russell Wilson is the man. He should be our quarterback no matter what anyone says about Glennon. The kid’s got heart and he just keeps getting better. If our receivers could hold onto easy balls more often, it would have been even worse today. Major kudos to our defense, they really stepped up today too. Our kicking game stinks though. It’s a good thing this game wasn’t close.

    41-10
    NCSU>UNC
    Tom>Butch

    GO WOLFPACK!

Did Butch get his pay raise or did he just get Butch slapped?!

  13. choppack1 11/22/2008 at 3:41 PM #

What a game…The funny thing about this – this is exactly what the game should have been like last year, but for a couple of pick sixes and a half-back pass.

How bout the way TOB, Inc prepare a team for a rivalry. Remember these words from BC Eagle – “TOB knows how to win the rivalry games.” Damn straight.

This team was so well prepared. I don’t know if anyone noticed the one reverse UNC tried to run – our guys saw the motion and started pointed – and totally flushed it out. A thing of beauty.

Now I just hope that MSU>PSU!

Win next week, and Tom O’Brien wins conference COY.

Win or lose next week, Paul Johnson will get alot of votes. If GT beats UGA, then it won’t even be close.

  16. BJD95 11/22/2008 at 3:44 PM #

Mike Archer deserves alot of credit, too. He’s worked miracles with our defense. And his “laughingstock” motivational ploy seems to have paid off in spades.

Guys I’m as excited as everyone else is and will enjoy this win but lets not get ahead of ourselves with conference record here. It’s currently NC State 3-4 and UNX 3-4. State still has to play a dangerous and favored Miami team and UNX has lonely Dook. The season ain’t over yet.

    GO PACK!!!

  18. RagingWolf 11/22/2008 at 3:47 PM #

    ECU
    Duke
    Wake
    UNX

When is the last time a team from North Carolina won 4 in-state div 1A games in the same season?????

    I can’t describe how happy I am. It’s a feeling I had forgotten.

  19. BJD95 11/22/2008 at 3:48 PM #

1.21 – I am going to be ecstatic even if Miami beats us by 50 next week. Today was all that I needed.

How many walk-ons are in Paul Johnson’s two deep?

  20. VaWolf82 11/22/2008 at 3:49 PM #

Miami is clearly a “neck down” team. If they can’t beat you to death with their athletic advantage, then they aren’t going to win. Even when they have the better athletes, they often make enough stupid mistakes to still lose.

  21. Noah 11/22/2008 at 3:49 PM #

That could have been 63-10 pretty easily.

Whew. Okay, now…important stuff — I *know* one of you guys DVR’ed the game and can burn it to DVD. Can I hit someone up for a copy? Normally, I just download torrents of the games, but it doesn’t look like anyone is going to be hosting this one.

Pretty please? I’ll happily pay for blanks and postage. I’d love to be able to send a copy to my brother in California.

    Please?

  22. BJD95 11/22/2008 at 3:52 PM #

Tom O’Brien in his post-game comments: “We are the best football program in the state of North Carolina.”

This year, the state. Next year, the division. In 2 years, the conference. What a fantastic coaching staff to keep this team moving forward.

  23. 1.21 Jigawatts 11/22/2008 at 3:54 PM #

BJD – wasn’t trying to be a kill joy. Just trying to correct the wrong statements of 4-4 records.

I was screaming “Run It Herman…Leave No Doubt” the entire 2nd half.

As for COY. Wasn’t the media’s best case prediction for State before the season started 6-6?? Let’s see 70 games missing starters? I think case is closed if you look at the body of work AND opportunities to overcome adversity.

  24. TOBtime 11/22/2008 at 3:54 PM #

Thanks SFN for the comparison to Dick Sheridan. I have said TOB reminded me of COach Sheridan since he got to State and this game today brings back ALOT of good SHeridan @** whipping memories. FUnny thing is, take away half the turnovers and we STILL win by the same score. ‘Ol butch slap better take the train to TN while he can. His stock is dropping fast. 470 total yards? Are you kidding me? It must have been the refs!

  25. wufpup76 11/22/2008 at 3:55 PM #

ecstasy … total and complete ecstasy 🙂

and i’m feeling a win next week, too … we are most certainly coached better than miami

if you guys haven’t checked out the link Dogbreath provided, you totally should … pure comedy gold right there
