College Football 11-8-2008

Let’s keep BJD’s entry focused on the State/Duke game and put discussion of other games here.

For some strange reason, the GT/UNC game isn’t being shown in Central VA today. I have no idea what’s up with Raycom. Is anyone outside of NC/GA getting the Raycom game or are the Roanoke channels screwing me again?

My bad…..the Raycom game is on the FOX channel instead of CBS in the Roanoke area. I wonder if this is permanent or just for this week?

We’re getting the game on WVIR 29 (NBC) the Charlottesville station. It’s 7-0 UNC with GT driving from the 50. UNC scored on the first possession. GT offense looks a little flat.

Forgot to mention we have Dish TV.

Running the same play the same way with the first man through isn’t exactly working out so well for the Yellow Jackets so far …

When Nesbitt has called his own number they’ve gotten a few yards, but other than that the Holes are just stacking the line and squashing the first man through

10 minutes to go in the first half and we have these stranage stats for fourth down attempts:

    GT – 0/2
    UNC – 1/2

Down here in Gainesville, we’re getting it on ABC…

GT could use a kicker… And their QB might need to sit down– he looks, shall we say, much less than 100%.

Got to go cut grass for the last time now so I can be done by 3:30. Hope GT can get things going.

As a data point on the time lag associated with ESPN-360:
I watched Minnesota punt on TV, then watched the three previous plays on ESPN-360.

Something to keep in mind for anyone in NC that plans on watching the State game on-line while listening to it on the radio.

watching this game is painful. if the two elite teams in our conference turn out to be georgia tech and wake forest, we’ll probably not get much positive national coverage. and that’s a conference championship game i couldn’t watch (much like the soggy 2006 game). they are both so boring to watch.

unc 14, GT 0…and Butchy Boy got his dark blue jerseys.

I honestly can’t blame Davis for wanting to make that change though.

Another turnover, unc ball in GT territory again

Big unc gain on first down run after the TO. Oh well, I think maybe they actually are a dramatically improved FB team.

    Another TD for unc. 21-0

mcpete, don’t worry, GT is NOT an “elite” anything, not today anyway. Maybe we should all be excited that instead, unc is looking pretty damn legitimate? By ACC standards anyway.

UK up 3 on UGA just into the 4th qtr.

UGA scores a quick TD on their next possesion. UK gets a 95+ yd return and punches it on third down. UK up 38-35 with 12+ minutes to go.

Texas Tech gets my vote for most entertaining football team this year. What they did last night against Okie State was amazing.

Would love to see Texas Tech vs. UF for the national championship, but they both have some heavy lifting left to do.
