I’m really not kidding about the title of this entry. See last year’s entry and corresponding videos. It really is time for our annual spotlight on Wolfpack great, Adrian Wilson.
Since the Arizona Cardinals were in town battling the Carolina Panthers last weekend, this year’s entry is primarily brought to us by this article in last week’s Winston-Salem Journal.
When Adrian Wilson isn’t making big hits as the Arizona Cardinals’ strong safety, he can often be found at a designer shoe store that he owns in Scottsdale.
The name of the store?
High Point.
It’s partly a tribute to his home town, where he starred at High Point Andrews before going on to N.C. State and ultimately to the Cardinals as a third-round pick in 2001.
But there’s more to the name than just that.
“It’s a lot of things,” Wilson said in a telephone interview yesterday. “Obviously it is a tribute to my home town, but I also said once I got my own business it would be the high point of my career, and the high point of my life. That’s how it is and that’s pretty much how I want to keep it.”
Life is good for Wilson these days.
The headquarters for my group/division is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. So, I have the pleasure of traveling out there about ever six weeks or so. The folks out there love Adrian. In fact, I’ve heard him (as well as Herb Sendek) on local radio multiple times. It’s pretty cool.
But, this entry can’t be 100% positive. It appears Dave Fleming of the ESPN’s Page2 has a different opinion of Wilson. This article places Wilson into nomination as the NFL’s dirtiest player.
As far as potential successors to [Rodney] Harrison [as the NFL’s dirtiest player] — let’s call them the Flagrant Fraternity — I think most everyone is now present.
I see Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson, fresh off his $25,000 fine for trying to plant Bills quarterback Trent Edwards like a tulip in Week 5.
