Awwww . . . don’t you know that it takes decades to build a winning team. One needs to hire 18-year-old coaches so that by the time they retire, the team might have a winning season (IF the proper facilities are provided and the fans keep forking over millions!)

  2. redfred2 06/06/2008 at 1:58 PM #

    Two out RALLY!!!

We are going to win! We are going to win!

But seriously, this MIGHT shake UGA’s confidence…a little. Might, I say.

We probably shouldn’t be getting down on the team.

    1) They’re still alive, and

    2) this season has been a success even if they get knocked out in a Super Regional by the #8 team in the country.

  4. ncsslim 06/06/2008 at 2:20 PM #

This particular #8 team is very beatable, but not by a squad that has no more game-in-game-out offensive punch than we have. College baseball is an offensive game that is punctuated by solid pitching. You are not going to win a Super Regional on the road by having 2 runs through 8+ innings and allowing a pitcher who’s had recent problems to go 8 2/3 against you. Just doesn’t set up for a very good series. Omaha is quite a bit further away than it was 2 1/2 hours ago. I’m sorry, but I’m not just happy to be there. Today seemed to be a day to make a statement and we made the wrong statement. Hopefully we won’t roll over tomorrow.

Forget about facilitites, the players just want a bus with air conditioning. I guess if they could build a bus out of red bricks, then we would have the best available.

Wait a minute!!! What if we built the coaches out of red bricks, and then had brick players, and filled the stands with red brick fans? Then, there wouldn’t be any need for any more NC State blogs.

I need to talk to Lee, I think I’ve finally figured where he’s going with this now.

Just need 2 straight wins, it’s doable.
Besides, right now is house money really to me.

I want to see a new thread started with a headline that reads…

“NC STATE CRAPS THE BED…. AGAIN”

  8. packfan4ever 06/06/2008 at 3:52 PM #

How many of you actually have been to a baseball game this year during the regular season? How many of you just started following the baseball team when they made it to the post season and then started posting crap like this? Come on, our team is having one of the best years in its history and they are still alive in the super regionals. We can wait for the off season to complain about the current position of the athletic department.

  9. MrPlywood 06/06/2008 at 3:57 PM #

    Well said 4ever.

  10. buttPACKer 06/06/2008 at 5:30 PM #

i agree, 4ever. . . but, the “craps the bed” thing is pretty funny.

    attended two games in row:
    CC and Duke.
    0-2.

Let’s hope we come back and win tomorrow. I know we’ve had a fine year but this losing shit is getting old.

  13. redfred2 06/06/2008 at 5:57 PM #

I hate to point this out, but, on a day that we’re playing in the super regionals, there have only been 14 different posters visiting the thread that’s specifically devoted to the event. Sad but true. So no matter what kind of ‘true’ baseball fans some us fourteen may considered to be, we are here, and we are pulling the PACK. Might not be much, but it’s something.

The thread’s all yours though packfan4ever, fill ‘er up.

There should be no problem with losing games against teams you’re not supposed to beat.

Just wait ’till Holliday gets his recruits… (nah, shouldn’t go there).

Side note: Shunick, Surkamp, Jones and McConnell were all drafted (I’m sure others were as well)… I’ll get something up on that after I sift through all of the draft crap (unless someone wants to beat me to it :))

  15. vtpackfan 06/06/2008 at 6:48 PM #

And then there was Greg Conver, a projectable pitcher from American Heritage who went undrafted despite getting some first-day talk. (Something tells me he won’t suffer the same fate after three years at North Carolina State.)

^We have a bus load of great pitching prospects coming in and this one for Miami-Dade may be the best.

  16. Dr. BadgerPack 06/06/2008 at 7:46 PM #

We actually have a couple of power bats coming in the next class as well. Name escapes me, but one is an outfielder that Holliday says could be the best 5-tool OF in the southeast.

  17. WolftownVA81 06/06/2008 at 9:00 PM #

I was really hoping Shunick would be pulled at the top of the 6th when he threw four straight balls for a lead off walk. Except for the 3rd, he pitched pretty well but with 95 degrees he had to be running of steam. With out touted bullpen, I was a little disappointed they left him in until it was all over. I really felt bad for him. I also hated that the whole draft thing was going on during the game. Its a wonder any of the players that had a chance to be drafted could concentrate. Hopefully will get a good nights sleep and UGA will come to the ball park a little over confident tomorrow. Come on Pack you can pull a win out tomorrow.

  18. vtpackfan 06/07/2008 at 6:45 AM #

I agree with the Draft day jitters, especially Shunnick since he was such a mystery as far as where he might go.

Cameron Conner of F-V is the 5-tool player you mentioned. He is probably in line to compete for CF with Wade Moore or Cartwright. He looks like the cream of the crop coming in next year as far as the bat’s are concerned (and boy should we ever be concerned about offensive threats who want to where Red!). Still time to pull in some blu-chips at late signing period.

Along with Culver, who shockingly went undrafted, we will see hopefully see Zak Sinclair in the rotation. He went in the in round 35 or something to the Red Sox and probably won’t be compensated enough to pull him now.

All in all a very good sign that the future is getting brighter, but I only think it can stay on this course if we manage to keep Holliday along for atleast a few more years.

OK, now your the real important stuff, its up to you Mr. Surkamp. Show us why you’ve been the real ACE here and on when you played HS in Cincy (sorry Brackman fans). Go PAck!

I agree with you Packfan4ever. I have become tired of all the negativity at this site and don’t visit quite as often. Did anyone know that Avent is the second winningest coach at State? I would not have thought that until I heard it recently. I certainly would have thought Tanner would have been in the top 2.

And yes I will always think it was a travesty that the Jackass Toddy Turner let Tanner get away when it didn’t have to happen. Tanner is a better recruiter than Avent but that doesn’t mean that Avent isn’t capable. I mean he did hire Holliday who is an excellent coach with credentials.

But some of you will still blame Fowler for giving up 5 runs in the sixth.

I’d like to read more positive comments because it is becoming laughable.

What’s next? Fowler to blame for mini-bottle toilet stop up at CarterFinley.

    And we’re off…

  23. packfan4ever 06/07/2008 at 3:17 PM #

Yeah WOLFPACK!! 1 more = Omaha!

  24. blpack 06/07/2008 at 3:47 PM #

LF is to blame for the toilet situation on the east side at C-F. ; )

ONE more win, Pack! Overcome, excel, achieve.

  25. MrPlywood 06/07/2008 at 3:57 PM #

Well done Pack! One more time now…
