Raleigh Regional – Friday Entry

All NCAA Tournament games can be tracked by clicking here to the NCAA’s scoreboard.

UNC-Charlotte and South Carolina lead off the action at 2pm.

The Wolfpack battles James Madison at 7pm.

If you need more on the Regional then please don’t overlook the fantastic preview that DrBadgerPack put together. (THANKS DBP!)

As we also discussed earlier in the week…there is a lot more riding on this Regional for NC State’s athletics department than just the micro of a few games.

Great win tonight, especially (as noted) the comeback after the ump trouble and the dumb error.

I don’t expect JMU to win but they certainly seem like a team that doesn’t give up easy; here’s hoping they can at least force their way into SC’s already-thin bullpen the way they made us go to Cutler.

Since the games are played in the middle of the night here I really enjoy waking up and reading through the comments to see who won. I get to go through the emotional ups and downs of the game in about 5 minutes. It’s much more entertaining than just reading a headline. Glad to see the Wolfpack pulled it out. There’s a good article on gopack.com detailing Coach Holliday’s decision-making and the reason behind each pitching change.

I see no one ever replied to your question about Gillheeney’s whereabouts…

According to a news report from a few days ago, as well as an ongoing thread on PackPride’s msg boards, Gillheeney has been ruled ineligible to play in the ACC tourney and the NCAA’s due to an undisclosed issue . Citing privacy issues, neither Avent nor Fowler would comment beyond that.

Many (on the msg board) are theorizing that it is due to grades/academics, but that is purely speculation at this point.
