Raleigh Regional – Friday Entry

All NCAA Tournament games can be tracked by clicking here to the NCAA’s scoreboard.

UNC-Charlotte and South Carolina lead off the action at 2pm.

The Wolfpack battles James Madison at 7pm.

If you need more on the Regional then please don’t overlook the fantastic preview that DrBadgerPack put together. (THANKS DBP!)

As we also discussed earlier in the week…there is a lot more riding on this Regional for NC State’s athletics department than just the micro of a few games.

That’s the longest 8th inning I can remember. I think Avent made some good calls there using up the pen. I’m really happy he gave Shunick into the 7th.

    Sorry, meant 7th.

5-4 State, but one runner was just thrown out at the plate. Good throw by SC. Runners move up, 2 outs.

What just happened? Was a runner thrown out at home?

Why don’t they do away with the color, and just do gametracker in black and white? This is THE INTERNET??? Can’t they at least find one of the secretaries who can type and keep up. Hell, I wouldn’t mind if she threw in a recipe or two just to keep it interesting. Good lord.

Somebody explain to the umpire that neither Duke or North Carolina are playing so “call the strikes, ump”~

Couldn’t have asked for a better start to State’s first Raleigh regional. Excellent job! Keep it up.

  22. PAPacker 05/31/2008 at 9:08 PM #

So SC or JMU has to beat us twice before we beat either one of them once. Love them odds

I thought the Pack did a great job tonight battling with some adversity. We could have easily let the game get out of hand after the ejection of Synan, balk call that ended up leading to score, and error that lead to SC taking the lead, BUT they hung in there and battled.

    Great job guys.

What’s very nice is Surkamp and Sogard are both unused, and the bullpen today had it’s 2+ innings of work spread out amongst the staff. I’m knocking on wood as I type this, but the pitching should be in nice shape for tomorrow.

Critical will be the NCAA rules regarding ejections for arguing. In the past certain ejection types have warranted (by rule) an immediate 1 game suspension. I certainly hope this is NOT the case for an ejection involving arguing balls and strikes.

Should be a fun day tomorrow. Go Pack!

What a game, what a game!

I have to admit, I’m not used to this feeling. Since when do wolfpack teams come through when it counts?

    Go Pack!
