Perhaps some of you got the same e-mail I did recently from GoPack.com about their latest Rivers/Holt auction item.

Nevermind that “Rivers to Holt” seems a bit silly to me considering Philip and Torry never played together. But is it too much to ask for the official athletics website to correctly spell the name of our mascot?

Now granted this description more than likely came from LegendsAutographs.com (who also has autographed shoes from “Cammeron Bannerman” and “Illian Etimov”) but does anybody at GoPack.com proofread these sort of things? And isn’t the “Wolf Pack” the mascot for the University of Nevada?

In the big scheme of things this really isn’t a big deal but it’s one of those pet peeve sort of things that looks sloppy and unprofessional and doesn’t do much to improve my already low opinion of GoPack.com.

But…who is GoPack.com, anyway? Surely it would be asking way too much of them to get the headline accurate in an article about NC State football? Especially since the big story of today’s and the crux of most conversations about the game revolve around the performance of both quarterbacks!! Who would need/want accuracy about that?

    Doesn’t Annabelle have someone in charge of proof reading this information from Legends Autographs for correct spelling? I mean, she does have a lot of SID work that may make this be just an oversight.

    I’ve been getting these emails also. At first i thought they were from our school trying to earn money for the WP Club. They make it look like an auction but to make a bid, you have to put a credit card online. I just got a unsettleing feeling about it and wonder who is truly behind this, whether NCSU supports it, whether it is on the level or just a sales scam and not really affilated with GoPack. Maybe the N&O should investigate.

    gopack.com is the biggest joke of an athletics website I’ve ever seen. If they did not post baseball scores I wouldn’t know it existed. On the site there is way more effort put into directing you to buy merchandise than there is to having a decent picture of WOLFPACK athletics painted.

    This is completely off topic. I haven’t posted in a while, because my old account kept telling me that I had the wrong password, even after getting it reset. Anyway, I finally got a GMail account and re-registered. SFN, you can delete this post, I just wanted to let you know that I had that problem, in case you want to investigate it.

    I think I liked it better when I wasn’t aware of the extent that we suck at everything…even down to our website. I think I’m gonna take an NC State vacation – ya’ll get this crap straightened out before I get back.

    My beef with what Holt said was not that he feels that way, but that he said it in public. I am sure that many athletes don’t feel as strong a ties to their school as the fans do – that’s just a difference in being a fan and an athlete. Approaching something as a “job” gives you a different perspective.

    But to apparently either not know, or not care what such a public admission does is just flat out wrong. And the fact that no one from NC State’s leadership said or did anything on this is pathetic.

    I got a reminder email about this auction today. I cut and pasted the illogic and incorrect info into an email and sent it to the Wolfpack Club. I told they they were embarrasing NCSU Athletics. Maybe some idiot there can read it to lee Fowler.
