Ol Roy. His ego has no limits. Your team has to fly back upset over losing in the Final Four, while you yuck it up in the Kansas section.<br>

There were a handful of folks on here who were pretty certain that ol thuggish Memphis was going to go out in the sweet 16 just because they played in a weak conference. I think a few of those folks have some crow to munch on, even if Memphis did lose last night.

As for playing unselfishly as a team, I agree. They played as a team instead of a collection of talent a hell of lot more than our team did this year. I’d take Rose and CDR at State any day and twice on Sunday.

Noah – I think Bo was more PO’d that the coach had already signed w/ ASU. I don’t think he necessarily cared about where you went to school or where you learned the game, just where your allegiances lay.

Of course. Bo was right to tell Frieder to get lost.

I was just saying that using the quote in this situation is ironic considering the fact that Bo was Woody’s guy (though at THE Miami of Ohio, not OSU).

However, this team seemed unselfish and played very hard. I watched the PC and the guys were hurting – but they answered the questions as best they could.

True, but only one loss during the regular season will do that. Winning is great, and brings out the best. Losing sucks, and brings out the worst (i.e. see NC State this year). If we start winning, alot of “chemistry” issues will cease to exist. It’s alot like the chicken and the egg — which comes first? Good chemistry results in winning, or winning results in good chemistry??

Speaking of winning, what’s the latest recruiting scoop? Can I put in a vote for a Recruiting Topic? 🙂
I feel certain, we have to get another commit or two this Spring. I’d like to see Wall or Brown commit, but they may wait. Also, we’ll definitely need a “big” for 2009. And if we somehow got Favors, we’d need another for 2010, as he’s definitely one and done!

Know what tickles my ass the most? ( and I should be posting this on there tree )

All the belly aching over loosing in the final 4…the cuts on Williams game management…Kansas stickers equal betrayal and lack of class, ad nauseum.

What is it about the CH bunch they don’t get?

Could it be that one of their own former cagers was in the crowd vs. Kansas, exhorting the Jayhawks to get back on D?

Or could it be that their icon Coach Smith was born in and played for who? Few of them could even answer that.

Those people over there don’t have a freakin’ clue.

I get so much satisfaction in their ignorance

In all my years of trying who’d have ever thunk? Their own Head Coach, and right in front of the largest college basketball crowd available on the planet, out there basically making a statement that says there is life beyond CH, that college BB, and the universe in general for that matter, doesn’t necessarily revolve around their precious little powder blue, tar heels as they might have thought.

I LOVE IT!!! Thanks Roy!!! I couldn’t have done it better myself.

BTW, had this been a “lesser” coach sitting there in another team’s section wearing their logo, you’d better bet your arse that the media would have been all over it the very first time the camera panned his way. Not in this case though, no siree, they just let it slide on by without even commenting.

Roys’ jbird sticker was uglier than the tie he wore in Saturyday’s game.

I say we buy 5,000 jbird stickers and wear them with an ugly plaid tie when UNX visits RBC next winter.

    Good idea Primewolf.

Your guess is good as mine as to what the players will be doing then, but at least us fans can suit up with bad intent anyway.

All the quotes Beowolf listed above are prime examples of what poor sports tarholes are and always have been. What a bunch of ingrates!

Roy comes to town and saves their program, restores it to greatness and they win a championship without hardly missing a beat. They ONLY make it to the final four this year, he’s seen sitting the stands supporting his former school at the championship game and the tarhole fans are having kittens over it.

Notice the lack of media coverage of these tarhole fans showing their asses about this.

Can we get Pat Summitt to coach our men’s team?

  12. packbackr04 04/09/2008 at 7:34 AM #

can we get some of Pat Summits players on our mens team?

You were watching a different channel than I was. The channel I was watching had Jim Nance comment on it. I’ve read multiple columns both pro and con on it and it was a heated discussion on talk radio yesterday.

To me – this shows just how irrational some folks can be.

Roy coached at Kansas for a decade. If he’s any kind of decent person at all, he has very close friends there. He probably recruited some of their current players too.

If TOB wins us the ACC championship next year and two years from now he goes to the ACC championship wearing a BC sticker – I won’t give a damn.

Similarly if Rick Barnes was our coach and wore a Texas or Clempson lapel at one of their games, I wouldn’t give a damn. If you are getting frustrating about this thing, obviously you don’t have enough pain in your life.

recruiting info anyone? i know there is something going on. there has to be, someone spill some beans already.

  16. EverettBeez 04/09/2008 at 9:09 AM #

PrimeWolf – that is an outstanding idea! Creative, not mean spirited – well not ugly – but perfect to dig into the hearts of every panty-waisted ‘hole fan.
    Archive that puppy.

The fact that anybody is still talking about this proves that the annual college sports dead zone is upon us.

After the year we had…boy it couldn’t have gotten here soon enough.

  18. tcthdi-tgsf-twhwtnc 04/09/2008 at 10:37 AM #

I think it would of made more sense to where a KU colored shirt instead of a large logo over his heart.

Wonder if Oliver Purnell will wear a Clemson badge when he gets recruited to a real basketball team?

  20. redfred2 04/09/2008 at 5:34 PM #

Noah, I was about half asleep and wasn’t listening very closely, but what did Jim Nance say that meant anything about it one way or the other? I heard the broadcast, heard them talking about Roy sitting in the KU section, but really nothing beyond that.

Was there some polarized commentary in there somewhere that I missed?

  21. Ed89 04/10/2008 at 9:12 AM #

Speaking of Purnell, he just got a commit from a 4-star kid from S.C. Supposedly a good shooter who is about 6’8″. I don’t think we were interested in him. Ryan Kelly has no interest in State now. He just had his flight to Stanford cancelled, as I guess Trent Johnson is looking at the LSU job. He’s also interested in Vandy. Still no word on any others, but I think we’ll get a Brown commit very soon.

They put the camera on him and Nance (and I think Packer) commented on him being there and there was sort of a tone of surprise. I’m sure someone here TIVOed it and can give a more accurate summary.

But, they did mention it and it’s still getting play.

I’m loathe to report the source of it (his name is considered an obscenity here), but one columnist with a southern accent commented this morning on Fox Sports Radio, reported that Williams took the job at UNC basically out of loyalty to Dean Smith…and nothing else.

He didn’t want to leave Kansas, but he felt like he had to. And the columnist said that if he had bolted 10 minutes after arriving in Chapel Hill to go back home, the columnist wouldn’t have been surprised.

  23. redfred2 04/10/2008 at 12:00 PM #

^I know they spoke as though they were surprised to see Roy sitting there with his KU logo, like anyone would, but they still didn’t say much beyond that. I’m talking right then, DURING the game, not what anyone said on the radio or after the fact.

I say they would have had an immediate all out discussion about the do’s and don’t’s of it, had it been someone else sitting there.

  24. CaptainCraptacular 04/10/2008 at 12:15 PM #

Noah do you believe that? I dont think I do. That particular columnist tries intentionally to spice things up and stir the pot just to get a reaction. I think Roy loves both places and while his loyalty to dean surely played a large part, I find it incredibly difficult to believe it was the sole reason, especially coming from that particular source.

  25. Noah 04/10/2008 at 1:22 PM #

Noah do you believe that? I dont think I do.

Anyone have a Lexis/Nexus account? Apparently, this lowly columnist whose name I will not mention got all of this from a KC Star article that was published shortly after Williams took the job in Chapel Hill.

I mentioned the columnist’s comments this morning to a colleague of mine who used to work at the Star who said that it’s all true and has been reported before.

I’ve never read the article, so I can’t confirm or deny.
