7:07 – No HD. Screw you, ESPN. Pack can’t throw it in the ocean so far. Lowe has Javi guarding Rice, which strikes me as a REALLY stupid move. Rice has 4 at the first media timeout, which is exactly the magnitude of BC’s lead.
7:15 – We suck. 16-7.
7:17 – Costner launches first airball. He’s on the floor with Ben, MJ, Trevor, and Simon. No offense needed tonight, I guess.
7:19 – Our worst effort of the year so far. 20-9 Eagles. Rice has 11 against the Javi/MJ combo. Paging Sidney Lowe – you have ONE non-shit perimeter defender and BC has ONE good perimeter player. It’s not that f-ing complicated.
7:26 – Our shot selection blows. Nice runout by Gavin. Lead down to 6.
7:28 – Psychologically, it would be a big boost to have the lead under 5 by halftime. I just hope Lowe’s idiotic opening 8 minutes doesn’t kill us.
7:33 – Costner makes a bad shot on his 3rd try, but follows up with lazy D. Lead back to 9. BC misses layup and follow dunk!
7:36 – Bilas rightly reaming us for inconsistent defensive effort. Costner bricks front end of one-on-one after nice rebound. There’s a #4 on the court for us, but not sure Fells really made the trip. Or he’s profoundly stoned. You decide.
7:41 – Rice picks up 3rd foul. Still down 9 and not giving much effort, though. It’s now or never, Pack.
8:10 – Accidentally deleted my halftime update. Not going to redo it except to reiterate how much it sucks that we didn’t cut the lead with Rice out of the game. At the first media timeout of second half, Rice has 19 points. However, our trapping is working for the time being. Seems like a good move, especially with our unwillingness to play halfcourt defense.
8:15 – We need to use timeouts to avoid TOs. Stupid play.
8:24 – I’m not ready to call Sid an idiot just yet, but he is one tonight. Playing with three fouls, Rice has 8 points in the first 9 minutes of the half, and 21 for the game. While Courtney Fells stands idly by saving his energy for Saturday (I guess). Just like we did in College Park, we are letting BC score on almost every second half possession. That’s how NC State stages a comeback, I guess. Fuck.
8:32 – Lead down to 8, but Grant is choking bigtime at the line tonight. 1-5, IIRC. Refs miss blatant intentional foul. The refs are NOT costing us the game, but the piss poor officiating is really embarrassing to the conference. Look for Tyrese Rice – who has twenty-fucking-five against our short true freshman PG to quell this mini-run stat.
8:38 – Courtney Fells blows.
8:41 – Man, do I hate agreeing with Jay Bilas. But the asshole is right. This team disgusts me right now. 9 point game, just under 4 left.
8:47 – Ballgame. This team has no fight, no pride, and no balls.
8:49 – How could I forget brains? None of those, either.
