Praise For Mario Williams

It is really great reading various media members praise Mario Williams:

Peter King: Texans got it right; Williams vindicates Houston for risky No. 1 pick in ’06

SportingNews: Texans’ Williams looks better than ever

As a fantastic reminder, Jeff went “On the Record” on SFN before the NFL draft as a response to ESPN’s resident dunce, Skip Bayless. You’ve got to check it out for fun. But, Bayless isn’t the only ESPN back-tracker on Mario. Check out the former Boston Sports Guy’s comments that we have chronicled for you.

Bush was largely sorry last year, was more sorry this year, and will continue to be sorry as long as he remains a running back in the NFL. No one doubts his athletic ability. But the laundry list of athletes with skills that don’t translate to the national football league is long. It’s well established that Bush is an undersized running back, but I would wager that is only half the picture. The truth is that he is more of a natural (very) under-sized receiver. That he was such a dynamic college player (which is just the truth) can be attributed to the absurd amount of talent that was on that team, that he wasn’t required to run for tough yards, and that he was simply that much more athletic than just about everyone else. But, that ability will never germinate into an effective pro career because Bush lacks the size to play receiver, the toughness to play RB, and the work ethic to excel at any position.

All this talk of bad sports announcing, I can’t believe Doc Walker hasn’t been mentioned. So I’m mentioning him; I forward the hypothesis that Doc Walker is the most idiotic dipshit to ever commentate an NCSU game as an unafiliated announcer.

We haven’t mentioned Doc Walker because we’re talking about BAD sports announcing.

Walker would have to make miles and miles of improvements before he reached “bad.”

Kind of like you don’t mention Pompeii when you’re talking about lists of “bad days.” It’s just in a whole ‘nother category.

“An independent NFL scout who was assigned to three NC State games told me: “If they hadn’t told me to watch Williams, I wouldn’t have noticed him.””

    Another expert bites the dust…

I don’t know if you guys got to see it, but after tonights 3 sack 7 tackle game against the Broncos more “experts” are going to have to eat their words. Mario probably punched his ticket for Honolulu tonight.
