Nice Tracy Smith Article/Interview

Link to Tim Peeler article (and make sure to click the video link, too). We at SFN expect Tracy Smith to play a very important role this season (5-10 minutes of energetic rebounding, with the ability to step up and provide more when fouls and injuries strike). He sounds like a kid who really bleeds red and white already:

From the day he first met NC State coach Sidney Lowe, 6-7 power forward Tracy Smith knew he wanted to play for the Wolfpack.

He liked the coach’s tenacity, his style and his ability to whistle loudly over the rumble of a packed arena.

Nothing has changed with Smith, a native of Detroit who played high school basketball at Durham’s Mt. Zion Academy, is enrolled at NC State and preparing to start practice. In fact, like Lowe, Smith already believes he NC State through-and-through.

“I feel like I am Wolfpack all day,” Smith declares in his first interview since joining the team, available exclusively on GoPack.com.

Looking forward to seeing Smith, Hickson, Degand and Johnson play. Maybe I’ll make the trip to Raleigh a week from Friday.

Great interviews if anyone is thinking of not watching. Haven’t seen Smith’s yet, but the first three were great.

Gopack.com has been on the ball lately.

It was great to see how happy Tracy looked during this interview. For those of you that don’t know, not a lot of people thought Tracy Smith would make it this far. I am going to be rooting especially hard for Tracy to be successful. I love this kind of story.

FYI – There is a great article in today’s N&O on Lowe’s appearance at the Raleigh Sports Club buried between the UNC – USC love fest. Among the highlights – Lowe has lost a considerable amount of weight; Hickson is doing great and this great paragraph:

Lowe said Gonzalez was told he would be out 6 to 10 weeks. Lowe flashed his megawatt smile and to the crowd, saying “I told Javy if it was me, it probably would be more like 3 or 4.”

Basketball season can’t start soon enough for me

^What Stoner said. I just can’t wait to see Coach Syd on the sideline with young horses running the floor and a whole stable waiting to get in the game. It’s been worth the wait but WHAT a wait!

Of course GoPack.com is going to write a glowing piece about the team. It’s GoPack.com, after all. Quite frankly, the thought of all these young players running up and down the court brings visions of rampant turnovers. And fantastic dunks a la Syracuse of the 80s and 90s,

JJ’s interview is up on gopack now. I like what he has to say, especially the part about not being able to wait for the UNC game! He also says he wants to graduate from NC State to make his grandma happy.

I said something on SFN years ago about how I didn’t feel like we were receiving an opportunity to get to know the kids/players who were playing in Wolfpack uniforms anymore. With a few exceptions the player interviews were all about procedure, execution, and blah, blah, blah. I didn’t know if it was just me or what, but I didn’t know the kids like I did back in good ole days.

These latest interviews are about the kids and we’re definitely receiving that opportunity once again. We know realizes the importance and who is infusing a whole new/old feeling within the program, also within these kid’s souls.

Speaking of souls, my NC State loving/basketball loving soul is in the hands of Sidney Lowe, I couldn’t feel better about that.

Pretty sure gopack did similar articles of previous frosh

packgrad93, I know there were interviews but thanks for setting me straight and ALWAYS defending your man. It’s not their fault, but the point I was making is that the kids weren’t inspired back then and the interviews weren’t like these are now. I don’t know, the questions being posed now may be exactly the same questions as those asked back when your idol was here, but the answers, those are totally different. Their answers now focus around the kids themselves, NC State, and their desires to actually compete, and beat, our closest rivals.

We had games, but did we even have rivals back then? Nah.

Sorry, did I say just “rival”, I hope that isn’t too harsh a word for you.

^ just dispelling myths that some like to keep alive.

^Uh oh, just one-liners that don’t even pretend to address the subject matter. More evidence that plainly suggests a renamed EVERGREEN is typing these posts.
