whatever happened to big lew? he isnt on the roster. i know he’s bad but it would have been fun to see him scrap around in garbage time

Big Lew was introduced as a “student assistant.” Good to see him still an active part of the team.

I don’t want to feed into overhype or place unfair expectations on the kid…but he reminds me a lot of Kevin Garnett.

As long as he doesn’t fall victim to “Kenny Drummond syndrome” I am very, very excited about Farnold. Much better than expected.

    whatever happened to big lew?

He suffered effectively a career ending knee-injury last year. His scholarship doesn’t effect our total, but he is still on scholarship and is working towards his degree.

anyone else having trouble getting the video to load?

  5. noah 10/28/2007 at 2:14 PM #

    Not here.

Glad to hear Lewindosky is sticking with the team. His scholarship status is considered to be a medical hardship. Good luck with his academic career.

big Lew has a heart condition that keeps him from playing b-ball ever again πŸ™

  9. sf59 10/28/2007 at 4:29 PM #

thats the inital report for Javi… he is already in a cast and skill work outs ended a while back

  10. noah 10/28/2007 at 5:48 PM #

“Javi reinjurs thumb and has surgery.”

That CANT be a new story, can it? What’s he doing diving for loose balls if he’s already got a bad thumb??

  11. burnbarn 10/28/2007 at 7:12 PM #

It says it happened in practice on Friday and the story was posted today.

a few times in the game i thought I saw Hickson “will” the ball in.

Off topic, but I have heard rumors of the fair grounds lot not being available for free parking this year during basketball games. Trying to figure if this was just someone talking or if this will be true. anyone know?

  13. JeremyH 10/28/2007 at 9:14 PM #

Javi should be rehabbing by now…

That’s terrible news to hear about Lewandowski. I understand how and why some people were speculating about his scholarship status back before this bad news came out, but I always felt certain that Sidney Lowe and staff would have still honored his commitment regardless of his play. Glad he’s staying involved with the program.

About Ben McCauley’s post game interview, is that guy comfortable in front of a bunch of microphones, or what? Great kid!

With all this bad news guys, I have great news.. We’ve landed on the moon!! Your Friend, Loyd Christmas

I hate to hear that about Javi too. To me, this means that some more weight falls on Fells, the one player who has yet to convince me that he really wants to be out there on the court. He’s an upperclassmen now and he has to start exerting the effort every time down, and on both ends of the court.

I didn’t read much about him in the Red/White game. Anybody know, what’s the prognosis of him taking on the responsibility and being a major factor on this team?

  17. packpigskinfan23 10/28/2007 at 11:03 PM #

burnbarn- that is word for word the same release as the one we got 3 or so weeks ago. I dont know why it would be posted again, but there is no way. Javi still had a small cast on when the BB team came out to be recognized during the football game.

btw, anyone hear anything about the recruits that were supposed to be in Raleigh this weekend?!

  18. OwenDorm83 10/28/2007 at 11:20 PM #

I also thought of Garnett when I saw Hickson play yesterday. If you’re going to guard Ben McCauley, you better bring your lunch box. I look for him to have a great game. Degand looked good. He doesn’t need to score, just take care of the rock. Larry Harris’ son looked pretty good. He’s a big boy. If nothing else, he can get in there and beat and bang around in the paint.

  19. redfred2 10/29/2007 at 12:10 AM #

    ppsf23, Haven’t heard a word.

Is it against the rules to “advertize” that recruits are coming in, or to ask for more fan support in order to generate a buzz when they’re in town? From the reports on the crowd numbers and lack of noise at the R/W game, it didn’t sound much like those kids would have gotten any idea of the enthusiam involved with the program/fan base.

“HeÒ€ℒs a big boy. If nothing else, he can get in there and beat and bang around in the paint.”

Remember, that is Coach Harris’ son, not John Cheney’s. πŸ˜‰

I think the biggest question about a Hickson-Hansbrough matchup is can he listen like Hansbrough. I’ve never seen such awe-inspiring listening on a sideline.

  21. JeremyH 10/29/2007 at 12:43 AM #

Hickson-Hansbrough matchup? if he could only be so lucky. more like Hansbrough matchup. we are going to wear down and overwhelm some teams this year.

  22. JeremyH 10/29/2007 at 12:44 AM #

I guess square brackets are ignored. should be:
    “more like (ncsu frontcourt)-Hansborough matchup”

  23. Astral Rain2 10/29/2007 at 1:02 AM #

maybe if the PG situation looks good in 10-12 weeks we can redshirt Javi. Might do him some good. Depends on how Marques Johnson handles things if Degand is out.

  24. redfred2 10/29/2007 at 1:02 AM #

“I guess square brackets are ignored.”

I’ve typed some damn good stuff around here before without any responses either, I knew something had to be wrong. πŸ™‚
