Excellent information. Hopefully the guys on this team are more concerned with their contribution to the team, and how many games are won, than who starts. This year is going to be fun!

best part of the piece was that Strickland said Ben and JJ were the best players on the team. iron on iron or some crazy shit like that…scary for the rest of the ACC

wow…give ’em a dose of McCauley and Costner and then bring in Hickson and Horner to pound on ’em some more…I will be VERY surprised if our team rebounding numbers don’t dramatically improve this season. We are far less susceptible to foul trouble on the front line, also. We have some major scores to settle from last year (Florida State, Maryland, Clemson)

Will Barton ex game be on radio?

    Team,team,team! Sixth man?
Manu Ginnobli is one of the most important players on San Antonio, without him? Tim Duncan would only be known as great, but boring, surely not a champion as he is now! Oh, but he won it before! Sure he did! with Hall of Famer David Robinson!
Tayshawn Prince is another example. He was a irreplaceable piece of Detroit’s success. So much talent! somebody has to come off the bench!
Sid’s experience with the Piston’s is invaluable! Somebody has to be the sixth man, the seventh, and eighth! Recently I recall some bloggers getting excited about the possibility of Simon Harris being the tenth man!
I could freakin scream! I am so excited! Should I remain calm?….Hell no!!!
It is time the Wolfpack Nation overcame the bullying at the spoil,at the feast of success, and take its turn, at it’s rightful place! The top of the freaking college basket ball food chain! We are THE WOLFPACK! and WE ARE HUNGRY!!!!

….and when we’re hungry, WE EAT!

“iron sharpening iron” haha, I love that quote.

Where is noah to counterbalance all of this ridiculous optimism? Seriously.

starting lineup sounds right. JJ off the bench is a huge spark. Good to hear Javi is getting better quickly.

  13. tvp 10/31/2007 at 4:07 PM #

Having Javi available to spell Degand could be the difference between winning and losing the 3 day tournament in Orlando. Great news.

a littel more carolina inproprieties getting neatly swept under the rug: from 850.com

“In an e-mail message to the Observer on Tuesday, North Carolina associate athletics director for communications Steve Kirschner wrote that former players Sean May and Marvin Williams and North Carolina’s compliance officials were under the misimpression that as part-time students, May and Williams could speak to recruits. Only full-time, enrolled students are allowed to speak with recruits, Kirschner said.

Fair enough, but it doesn’t explain Felton, who was not a student in any capacity. Looks like we’ll have to stay tuned.”

    well how conveniant for UNC

I like coach S, but iron sharpening iron? I thought iron was a soft metal? (relatively)
    Bad analogy but great intention.

  16. packbackr04 10/31/2007 at 4:32 PM #

UNC is basically saying “im sorry officer, i didnt KNOW, that the speed limit was 65….thats why i was doing 150….. oh, but now since i told you i didnt know the rule, were all good right?”

a rule is a rule. whether you know it or not. this rule was broken and the offender ought to be penalized.. thats you Roy… but arent you on the NCAA coaches ethics commitee? o i see

What??? JJ Hickson isn’t good enough to start? We’re domed! Domed I tell ya! Domed!

    (howzat?)

  19. pakfanistan 10/31/2007 at 5:29 PM #

    Not good enough.

^^What does our semi-circular shape have to do with anything 🙂

Iron sharpening iron is from the book of Proverbs in the Bible just in case you were interested.

  21. PackGirl 10/31/2007 at 5:59 PM #

^I thought it was his way of saying we would lose in the Dean Dome, ie we’re “domed”.

  22. redfred2 10/31/2007 at 6:28 PM #

    Nice comeback there noah.

^And who is this cabwolf guy up there anyway? He must be new. The guy needs to check his emotions at the door. It’s already apparent that he doesn’t know very much about basketball either. It’s a science man, it’s all about the X’s and O’s, there’s no need to get that involved or fired up about it. It’s all just execution, all of that emotion is just a distraction.

Man, what if the players got as emotional about it as cabwolf did there? Jeez, there’s no way we stand a chance against Duke or UNC playing with emotion like that.

  23. redfred2 10/31/2007 at 6:33 PM #

    “Nice comeback there noah.”

Oh yeah, is it “domed” or doomed? I didn’t know if I had missed something and maybe there was a roof planned for C-F or something.

I will recite a chant found at typical Red Sox games (recently have been removed from Boston to Buffalo for school). Let’s just fill in Wolfpack in the square brackets instead of Red Sox:

Let’s go [ ] , bum bum, bum bum bum.
Let’s go [ ], bum bum, bum bum bum.
    (repeat)

You can’t help but get excited about the coming season. More bodies, and talented bodies at that helps in so many ways. Iron on iron, indeed. If Degand really is a shoot-first pg, at least the Javi competition will help focus that.

  25. westwolf 10/31/2007 at 6:37 PM #

JJ will be starting early in the Acc schedule. With experienced players ahead of him, I think that Sid be saying that until we evaluate everyone in game situations, we’ll go with proven players.

But once the season is rolling, look for the best players to be starting and getting most of the minutes.

(Countdown to the obligatory…it doesn’t matter who starts commentary).

But look for JJ to be starting earlier rather than later in the season. Plus, I predict Sid will alter the lineup throughout the year to exploit match-up advantages.
