BBallin at the Old Barn

In case you missed it, this link will take you to coverage of NC State’s “Ballin at the Old Barn” from Friday night.

As PackerinRussia said in another comments section:

For some reason he mentioned wanting to see everyone at the RBC Center making noise when they play Carolina. Am I missing something? Isn’t that game still 1/16th of the conference schedule?

Both Sid and Kay made hearfelt statements. It is refreshing to listen to someone who so obviously cares.

As said on another thread, Hickson is a beast. How does a freshment get that big? His game looked complete too. Fegand has a nice looking jumpshot, good handle and appeared to be a vey good athelete. If he has any PG skills at all I think we are fine at point. Johnson does have a funky jumpshot.
We have alot of players on the team. It is nice to have options.
The big white kid was involved as well. It is nice to see Sid keep him involved even though he is not really “on the team”.
I am very excited about basketball this year.

I have not been to one of these things before, but I have to admit it waws a littel slower than I had hoped. The hot shot competition took way too long and a little scrimage would have been nice.

Agree on Hickson but it was his excellent shooting touch that surprised me the most. So many great athletes like him never bother to learn or have the ability to shoot.

The surprise to me was Tracy Smith – Another great athlete but 2 or 3 inches shorter than Hickson.

Simon Harris could have a second career as a body builder. It is a real shame he couldn’t have played last year. It is obvious he is one the main leaders on the team.

I completely forgot about the event — how was attendance?

Both sidelines were pretty much filled.. endzone areas were empty.

Looking at the photos in the N&O link I was surprised to see NC State basketball players smiling and laughing. It is great that NC State is becoming a basketball school again and the players are having fun.

I’m happy the quote below isn’t coming from the NC State coach…

“I really like the character quotient of our team.”

Costner grabbed a red/white wig from the band and wore it during the three point shooting contest.

The team seemed to be enjoying each other.

Wait. So you mean Sid didn’t do some ridiculously horrific mutation of the chicken dance in a meager attempt to fool young athletes who had had the basketball and competitive fire coached right out of them into thinking they were having fun?

my favorite part was when costner and mccauley went up for a chest bump and both fell to the floor as if they were injured, everyone was like….. “wait, are they serious?” during warmups a ball off the rim hit costner in the knee very softly and he sat there and rubbed it for atleast 10 seconds as if he were in a great deal of pain, all in all it was a pretty funny practice. probably got a few people a little nervous 😉

    Rick & caniac45

That’s great stuff to hear. I guess they can play basketball, and have fun now, even while the coach is watching.
