Ruiz can’t be any worse than a punter at West Virginia Tech in the 70s. That team was horrendous, and the punter managed to punt the ball BACKWARDS on a couple of occasions.

  2. Astral Rain2 10/15/2007 at 3:19 PM #

Well, in high school PE, I used to be so bad at kicking the ball forwards that when they tested it, I punted away from the direction I was trying to kick it…

  3. RabidWolf 10/15/2007 at 3:56 PM #

Last time I tried to punt, I sidelined myself with a strained hammy AND a pulled groin….so after recovery I decided to concentrate on hoops.

    BTW….the ball went about 15 yards…at most. 😛

The Bobcats hire another Tarheel? WTF?!

Personally, I think TOB should tap the soccer team for a punter, or if there’s a State club rugby team….get my drift? The ball is roughly shaped the same, but a football is smaller and therefore easier to kick.

On a different note, let’s try to get as many people as possible to attend the NC State men’s club hockey team games this season. These guys are really good, and deserve as much support as we can offer. I mean, hell, they beat UNX 10-2 last year!!! VERY satisfying! Go ‘Pack!!

careful there rabid, get the tireholes interested and you’ll have bought-off refs and mysterious icing calls and men in the crease or whatever all those rules are, if there’s a tarhole involved, and an official around, and the Rams club putting up money, rest assured it will go all to hell.

RochesterRedWolf-You have to have something to shake-up with, and that wouldn’t include mortgaging some young players’ futures who may end up as better players than we have but aren’t ready quite yet.

I can’t imagine the punting situation could get worse, noah. We’ve already seen an 83 car pile-up in my eyes. I wonder why not Haushka? If he is truly a pro prospect as a PK he could make himself some extra loot by being a multi-purpose kicker. I handled some kicking duties in HS, and kicking a field goal is harder than punting if you couldn’t guess.

  8. noah 10/15/2007 at 4:21 PM #

I’ve never been able to do either. Whatever the secret is, it remains safely hidden from me. Right now, I’d say our punting situation is more of a 10-car fender-bender with a few serious injuries.

An 83-car pile-up would be one where the referees had to gather to talk about what just happened simply because they’d never seen anything like it.

i know how much statefans likes Nebraska’s AD. Well it appears Nebraska is not so much a fan.

I wish we had an opening.

i think at this point it’d be easier to get some ncsu astrophysics students to create a worm-hole in the kicker’s shoe that ended at around the 2 yrd line…the trick of course would be WHICH 2 yrd line: the one in front of the punter or the one behind the punter.

bTHEredterror i think u were talking to RabidWolf right?

does anyone have any more info on Ruiz and his transcripts that WOULD EXPLAIN alot, right up there with The Unified Field Theory and such

Ok, it is most definitely OFFICIAL! DOOK SUCKS IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE! I recently did a number on my knee, and my ortho surgeon told me to schedule an appointment for physical therapy at Dook sports medicine. After being hung up on once, I called back and got that “all service representatives are currently busy” message, I was on hold for 45 freaking minutes!! After being in muzak hell for that long, besides having Barry Manilow and God knows what else drilled into my head, I then got another message telling me what the office hours were, and to call back during business hours, and got cut off AGAIN!!! What kind of racket are they running over there in Durham, anyway!?!?!?!?

    ^^^“You can’t like our cocks”.

It was actually “lick”, not “like.” They also played the other USC (some time in the 80’s, I think, and they had bumper stickers that said, “The Trojans can’t wrap our Cocks”

Speaking of the Gamecocks, I still say the best game ever at Carter-Finley was the win in 1987 (I think) when Peebles caught the pass from Kramer with no time on the clock. I had friends up for the weekend from Columbia, and they were so distraught, they drove straight back to Columbia after the game.

One of the best C-F games EVER!

    GO ‘PACK—-BEAT ECU!

You found it! They did keep the video. I figured they would have long sent that one to the recycle bin.

  17. noah 10/15/2007 at 10:16 PM #

bobby Crumpler was a helluva running back.

  18. highstick 10/15/2007 at 10:52 PM #

Speaking of Gamecock t-shirts, I saw the following in Columbia a few weekends ago(for those who don’t know, the Gamecocks QB is Chris Smelley)

The t shirt said: “My Cock is Smelley”!

Did you guys hear that UNCX is now going to the “Moral Victory Bowl” after there “almost comeback” on Saturday. All I heard last week was pissing and moaning about Spurrier running up the score on them. Wish he’d not gotten so conservative in the second half cause it almost backfired.

  19. noah 10/16/2007 at 9:48 AM #

Right now, I’d love to have a moral victory.

  20. packgrad93 10/16/2007 at 11:10 AM #

not this week, need the real thing

  21. WolftownVA81 10/16/2007 at 1:11 PM #

^^^ Correct, I meant lick. Just don’t use that word much. Have enjoyed the other slogans mentioned. You have to admit, USC has some catchy ones and have Clempson beat by a mile (or whatever unit of measure you prefer to use.)

Still don’t understand why people think the Red Jacket is flash. When I went to the Peach Bowl (a la Dick Sheridan’s first year) almost every WP alum at the hotel was wearing a Red WP Blazer (including me). These are our colors man! It ain’t Bling for us old things. Maybe you younger guys don’t wear Blazers and don’t remember that madras quilt looking coat that Stormin’ Norman wore. The Red Blazer is TRADITION. Or at least it was once…….

  23. noah 10/16/2007 at 3:03 PM #

It’s just not something you see much anymore. Valvano had a red blazer that he wore often.

Pretty much every school gives their alumni the opportunity to purchase ties and sport coats in the school colors. So…I agree. Not bling. Not even flashy.

  24. TNCSU 10/16/2007 at 3:42 PM #

    Great link, RabidWolf!

  25. PamlicoPack 10/16/2007 at 6:15 PM #

There is a big difference between the dreadful polyester red blazers our older fashion challenged alumni are known to don and the natty one Sidney wore last season…remember the spread the fashion writer at the N&O did last year on Sidney’s impeccable taste in suits? The dude is the most nattily attired coach we’ve EVER had that I remember. We may not have come so far on the court, but in head coach fashion we’ve come a long way since Norm Sloan’s God-awful plaid blazer (then again, everything people wore in the 70s was awful…my parents have a picture of me when I was 6 wearing a burgundy polyester leisure suit with the ruffley shirt…UGH!
