Technician: Passing Out Not An Option

As the N.C. State football team was falling to Clemson Saturday, there was an even bigger problem in the stands — dehydration. This problem was not confined to just a few people. Approximately 100 people had to be treated, with six having to be transported to Rex Hospital. Luckily, there were no serious injuries, but next time temperatures rise, the situation could be different.

Students and other Pack fans sitting in Carter-Finley had few options to cool off and hydrate on Saturday afternoon. The lone option was to buy a $3 bottle of water, which all sold out by halftime. There weren’t any other mechanisms by which fans could cool themselves off or hydrate until bottled water was replenished at the end of the third quarter. These were factors that caused fans to become dehydrated, suffer heat stroke or exhaustion.

Those that come to Carter-Finley should be provided with options of how to keep cool and hydrated. The health of those who attend games must be a high priority to game operations officials.

Belgian beer IS outstanding. The unpasteurized stuff can be a shock to the uninitiated.

    Guinness is still my favorite.

“Best determiner of “a college town” is… # of fraternity charters revoked per decade.”

    That’s pretty funny BLS.

Since we’ve moved onto bars. I will say, I had a great time in Boston – and hats off to internet research – it was spot on. We were drinking dollar bud light drafts (the classic “good idea at the time”) on Friday night. Before game day hit Scary Anne’s, post game day went to the Pour House and ate 14.95 lobster at the Whiskey. There are more bars than you can shake a stick at in that town, and well, great scenery too.

My Civil Engineer neighbor has determined why the stadium is warmer now than in years past.

After much input, computer programming, and calcuation he says the stadium is hotter now than in the 70’s, 80’s, or 90’s because there is more Red clothing worn by state fans. He says there used to be more even mix of White and Red which allowed for more heat reflection. Now with a much greater percentengage of people wearing Red, there is greater heat retention!

    That’s what he said.
